MQM and MQMe — turbine quantometers (process gas meters) DN 25–150, up to 16 bar
MQM and MQMe quantometers are turbine gas meters for operational process metering of gas flow and volume. Connection by Rp 1 and Rp 1 1/2 thread up to 4 bar or DN 25–DN 150 flanges up to 16 bar. The meters are intended for internal process control, not for custody transfer.

Description
Quantometers are installed on industrial thermal processing plants, in furnaces, dryers, boilers, at individual burners and on process lines. In operation, the flow of measured gas turns the turbine wheel, the rotation speed is proportional to the flow rate, and the counter mechanism registers the volume at operating conditions. The manufacturer states explicitly that the MQM is not an officially verified (custody transfer) meter and is intended for internal process control, primarily on industrial thermal processing plants.
The MQM is fitted with an 8-digit mechanical counter mechanism. Through the pulse output, the operating volume can be passed to an external electronic corrector and converted to normal or standard conditions. The MQMe has a 9-digit electronic counter and an output signal. The processor receives the high-frequency turbine signal and calculates flow rate and volume at operating conditions, and with a built-in corrector converts them to standard conditions per AGA NX-9. Correction is made with fixed temperature and pressure coefficients or from the signals of additionally installed sensors.
Connection is by Rp 1 and Rp 1 1/2 thread to ISO 7/1 at a maximum operating pressure of 4 bar, or by DN 25–DN 150 flanges to DIN EN 1092-1 at a maximum operating pressure of 16 bar. The operating media are gases of families 1, 2 and 3 and other neutral gases. A 1 x G ¼ port is provided for the temperature sensor, and the thermowell is supplied as an accessory. The 4...20 mA analogue output requires an external power supply. The turbine bearings are permanently lubricated, so no maintenance is needed, and manual lubrication is available as an option for biogas. A 3.1 material batch certificate can be added as an option.
The quantometers hold an EC type certificate under the Pressure Equipment Directive. According to the datasheet, the manufacturer and certificate holder is the company in Fürstenwalde (Germany). Typical tasks are distributing gas flow between furnaces and zones, monitoring specific consumption per unit of product, monitoring burner efficiency and preparing data for energy management systems. The electronic MQMe is convenient for data transfer to the process control system, while the mechanical MQM is sufficient where an operator takes the readings.

Questions and answers
Can the MQM be used for custody transfer metering of gas?
No. The MQM is not an officially verified meter and is intended for internal process control, primarily on industrial thermal processing plants.
What connections and pressure do the quantometers have?
Rp 1 and Rp 1 1/2 thread to ISO 7/1 up to 4 bar, or DN 25–DN 150 flanges to DIN EN 1092-1 up to 16 bar.
How do the MQM and MQMe differ?
The MQM has an 8-digit mechanical counter mechanism with a pulse output to an external corrector. The MQMe has a 9-digit electronic counter and an output signal, and with a built-in corrector converts the volume to standard conditions per AGA NX-9.
