DFÜ-NG / RCU 1000 — remote data transmission units for gas measuring stations (DSfG, TCP/IP)
DFÜ-NG is a new-generation remote data transmission unit that moves data reading from gas pressure-reduction and metering stations and gas quality stations from analog channels to TCP/IP. Communication is based on the DSfG protocol adopted in German gas networks. The RCU 1000 software communication unit runs under Windows or Linux and supports redundant structures.

Description
Volume correctors, data loggers and gas chromatographs of the measuring station are connected to the DFÜ-NG, via the network or the serial DSfG bus. Up to 31 participants can be on the bus, locally through an RS 485 interface or as external participants over LAN. The DFÜ-NG can act as the bus master, controlling data exchange and synchronizing participants, but this role is not mandatory. An instance filter sets the access rights of individual users to individual bus devices. The unit replaces DFÜ, DFY and DLA devices with their full range of functions.
The X-Port expansion module opens DSfG access to network devices with programmable DSfG addresses. The DFÜ-NG keeps an address translation table and works as a DSfG router with two Ethernet interfaces, so all network devices of the station are accessed through one station IP address, and an ordinary switch connects them to each other. Addresses on the bus may differ from the addresses by which the devices are polled remotely, so a minimum of changes is needed at the polling center. This is how, for example, an MRG 910 corrector with an Ethernet module is polled through the DFÜ-NG. For the special case of the MRG 2203 corrector, a fast data channel DDK is provided.
In the standard version an Ethernet TCP/IP module is built in, a GPRS module is supplied on request, and an external LTE router is connected to the LAN interface. Up to four users work with the unit simultaneously. Time is synchronized through the PTB telephone time service or a time server. The power supply is 24 V DC as standard; with a different housing base, 230 V AC supply is possible. Parameters are set with the DFÜ-Installer program via USB, which guides the user through commissioning, and a separate version of the program supports remote parameterization.
RCU 1000 is installed as a program on any equipment running Windows or Linux. The unit scales to any number of data transmitters and receivers, supports redundant structures for critical applications, and performs parameterized calculations and conversions, for example dew point calculation. A typical example is the transfer of full analysis results of the RGC 7 process chromatograph to flow computers, after which the gas station becomes a scalable and redundant communication node. RCU 1000 is compatible with gas measurement systems of the same manufacturer already installed at stations and meets the requirements of the NIS2 directive on cybersecurity.

Questions and answers
How many users can work with the DFÜ-NG at the same time?
Up to 4 users simultaneously through the built-in Ethernet TCP/IP module. A GPRS module is supplied on request.
Can the DFÜ-NG be the master of the DSfG bus?
Yes. In the master role the unit controls data exchange on the serial DSfG bus and synchronizes participants, but this role is not mandatory. Up to 31 participants can be on the bus.
Which operating systems does the RCU 1000 run under?
RCU 1000 is installed on any equipment running Windows or Linux. The unit supports redundant structures and meets the requirements of the NIS2 directive on cybersecurity.
