Description
D-SIS (Draw-out Solid Insulated Switchgear) is supplied with a draw-out vacuum circuit breaker and installed at substations and power plants of medium voltage networks. According to the manufacturer, the installation area is reduced by up to 38 % compared with conventional metal-clad switchgear, although another section of the same page gives 70 %. The 25.8 kV version passed type tests at KERI in 2016–2017.
The circuit breaker drive is built on a permanent magnet actuator that works without maintenance. The arc is extinguished by vacuum interrupters embedded in epoxy bushings, with no oil or gas. The main circuit and the busbars are cast in hydrophobic cycloaliphatic epoxy resin HCEP, and independent per-phase insulation excludes three-phase short circuits. The draw-out breaker simplifies maintenance and can be replaced quickly. Mechanical interlocks between the circuit breaker, the disconnector and the earthing switch reduce the risk of wrong operations, and during maintenance double protection by the earthing switch and the disconnector applies. There is no gas in the switchgear, so pressure monitoring and refilling are not needed, and the epoxy-cast insulation covers the live parts.
The switchgear has automatic transfer in 1 cycle and monitoring of voltage loss and restoration, and the row of panels is easy to extend. It is controlled by the microprocessor controller ETR500 with measurement, monitoring, recording and communication, other relays fit too.
The manufacturer gives two versions. The rated voltage is of the 15 kV class, and the Korean catalog also gives 25.8 kV. Rated current is 630 and 1250 A, frequency 50/60 Hz. For 15 kV the one-minute test voltage is 36 kV, impulse 95 kV. Short-time withstand current is 25 kA for 3 s and 32.5 kA for 1 s, making capacity 65 kA, breaking current 25 kA. Degree of protection is IP31 / IP3X. Service life of the circuit breaker is 10,000 operations, of the disconnector and the earthing switch 1000. Operating temperature is −10…+40 °C, control is manual and automatic.
KERI carried out the type tests to IEC 62271-100 and 200. D-SIS is used at distribution substations, power plant auxiliaries and industrial substations where compactness, no gas and quick breaker replacement are required.
