Description
CBGS-2 REN is built on the 52 kV CBGS-2 range for medium-voltage networks of renewable energy projects, primarily solar photovoltaic plants. A solar plant network connects several generating stations in radial or ring lines. Therefore the standard set consists of function D (transformer protection by circuit breaker), function S (incomer with disconnector), function 0 (side incomer) and a metering unit. These are assembled into the configurations SD, SSD, 0D, 0SD, 00D and others.
The unit has an upper busbar tank of 3 mm stainless steel with a three-position disconnector (closed, open, earthed), a sealed circuit breaker tank, a cable compartment and a low-voltage compartment. The front panel carries a mimic diagram, position indicators, an operation counter, an SF6 pressure gauge, capacitive voltage indicators on each phase and a mechanical emergency trip button. The disconnector complies with IEC 62271-102 and makes onto a short circuit of 20/25 kA through the circuit breaker. Operation is manual. The lever cannot be removed until the operation is complete, and the circuit breaker will not close until the lever has been taken off.
The 52 kV circuit breaker is made for a rated current of 630 or 200 A. The rated breaking current is 20–25 kA, the making current is 50–63 kA (peak), the capacitive load breaking current is 220 A, and the operating sequence is O–0.3 s–CO–3 min–CO. Breaking time is 35–43 ms and making time 55–65 ms. The transformer unit is equipped with a motor operating mechanism for the circuit breaker, a double trip coil, 110/125 V DC control circuits and, to order, an Easergy P1 protection relay.
Current transformers are toroidal or flange-mounted for commercial metering, and voltage transformers are flange-mounted on the gas tank, with cast insulation and an external earthed screen. One cable is connected per phase. The units comply with IEC 62271-1, IEC 62271-100, IEC 62271-102 and IEC 62271-200 and work from −5 to +40 °C at altitudes up to 1000 m; for other conditions the design is agreed with the manufacturer. Internal arc resistance per the catalogue is 20–25 kA for 0.5 s. The marking on the units shows the manufacturer and the country, Spain.
