MV-CONNEX – plug-in straight-through and T-shaped cable joints and earthing devices up to 52 kV
The connecting and branching part of the MV-CONNEX system for voltages up to 52 kV and currents up to 1250 A. It includes single-pole straight joints, T-shaped joints, a coupling element and three-pole earthing devices. They are used to build plug-in medium-voltage cable lines, extend switchgear and earth equipment with the CONNEX interface.

Description
Single-pole MV-CONNEX straight joints are installed outdoors, laid in the ground and used in offshore applications. The joint arrives factory-assembled, with the contact sleeves already integrated in a soil-resistant insulating body. The connection is made by simply inserting separable CONNEX connectors from both sides. For laying in the ground or at sea, the bell-shaped flanges of the connectors must be made of bronze.
The joints are available in size 1 for 36 kV and 630 A, size 2 for 42 kV and 800 A and size 3 for 52 kV and 1250 A. For sizes 1 and 2 there is a soil-insensitive version with a heat-shrink tube included. In size 3, cast screens give a short-circuit-proof connection of the cable screen with a cross-section of up to 95 mm².
Single-pole T-shaped joints in a metal housing or in a soil-resistant version are supplied ready for connection. If the network changes, an underground T-joint can be replaced with a CONNEX straight joint. Together with a size 2 coupling element for 42 kV and 800 A, the T-joint makes it possible to later convert a substation with CONNEX sockets to a double connection or to make a plug-in cable branch. T-joints are rated for 36, 42 and 52 kV and currents of 630, 800 and 1250 A, with a weight from 17.6 to 46 kg. The same coupling element with a metal flange electrically joins different components with CONNEX sockets at a minimum distance.
Three-pole devices are available for earthing and short-circuiting switchgear, transformers and other equipment with CONNEX sockets, as well as cables with separable CONNEX connectors. Versions exist for sockets to EN 50180, EN 50181 and DIN 47637 and for connectors of sizes 1, 2 and 3. The devices work indoors and outdoors. The set includes short-circuit cables with a cross-section of 150 mm² and a length of 600 mm each, an earthing cable of 50 mm² and 1500 mm length and an E2 earthing clamp. The device is installed with a hinged operating stick, other variants are made on request.
