Bare overhead line conductors: steel-reinforced aluminium (ACSR), including large-section for EHV lines, heat-resistant, high-strength and with a carbon fibre composite core
The manufacturer produces bare conductors for overhead lines of all voltage classes, from distribution networks to extra-high voltage lines of 1000 kV. The range covers steel-reinforced aluminium conductors, large-section conductors, heat-resistant, high-strength conductors and those with a carbon fibre composite core. The company's conductors operate, among others, on the 1000 kV Yantai — Weihai line.

Description
By purpose these are analogues of the steel-reinforced aluminium conductors АС, АСКС, АСВТ and increased-capacity conductors. The JL/G1A steel-reinforced aluminium conductor combines a strong steel core with well-conducting aluminium layers. Aluminium is about three times lighter than steel, so the line weighs less, the towers are less loaded and construction is cheaper. The large-section JL1/G3A conductor for extra-high voltage lines has a core of high-strength steel wire and a large aluminium cross-section. Its active resistance and losses are lower, and the conductor is resistant to ice and wind loads.
Conductors with a steel core and high-conductivity aluminium, as well as conductors with an aluminium alloy core, have lower resistivity and transmit energy with lower losses. To increase the capacity of existing lines, the manufacturer produces conductors of heat-resistant aluminium alloy and heat-resistant steel-reinforced aluminium conductors. They operate continuously at 150, 210 and 230 °C against 70–100 °C for ordinary aluminium ones and keep their conductivity and strength. Conductors with an ultra-high-strength steel core and aluminium alloy are used for large crossings of rivers and gorges.
A conductor with a carbon fibre composite core carries 1.6–2.0 times more current than a steel-reinforced aluminium one of the same diameter. It operates continuously at temperatures up to 200 °C and has high corrosion resistance. Expanded-diameter conductors have loosely stranded inner layers, so at the same cross-section the outer diameter is larger. The field strength at the surface is lower, the corona inception voltage is higher and corona losses are lower.
Alongside bare conductors, the manufacturer also produces insulated overhead line conductors of 1 and 10 kV, including with a steel core and of aluminium alloy.

Questions and answers
What temperature do heat-resistant conductors withstand?
Conductors of heat-resistant aluminium alloy operate continuously at 150, 210 and 230 °C. Ordinary aluminium conductors are designed for 70–100 °C.
How much more current does a carbon fibre core conductor carry?
At the same diameter the current is 1.6–2.0 times higher than for a steel-reinforced aluminium conductor. The continuous operating temperature is up to 200 °C.
What lines is the JL1/G3A conductor intended for?
The large-section JL1/G3A conductor is used on extra-high voltage lines where low losses and resistance to ice and wind are needed.
