H2 / H3 / H4 — polymer line post insulators for 46–161 kV lines (modular from 230 kV)
H2, H3 and H4 polymer line post insulators hold overhead line conductors on poles without suspension strings, in horizontal and vertical positions. Cast versions are standard for 69–161 kV, and modular made-to-order designs are rated for 230 kV and above. The series are distinguished by core diameters of 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5 inches.

Description
Polymer line post insulators are designed to hold overhead line conductors on poles without suspension strings, in horizontal and vertical positions. Cast line posts are standard products for 69–161 kV. Modular designs are made to order and, as a rule, are rated for 230 kV and above; they are adapted to the conditions of the specific customer.
H2 (2.5″ core) is available as the cast MX series for standard mechanical loads with a selectable end fitting and base, and as the VX series with length, creepage distance, fittings and base made to order. H3 (3.0″) is the VX series for increased loads, and H4 (3.5″) is the made-to-order high-strength series. For H3 the tensile load is 20,000 lb, the versions have different creepage distances (A, B, C), and grading rings are provided if required.
For example, the cast H2 of the 69 kV class has a dry arc voltage of 254 kV, a wet arc voltage of 232 kV, a critical impulse flashover of +432/−527 kV, a creepage distance of 63.8″, a working cantilever load MDCL of 3015 lb, an SCL of 6030 lb and an STL of 15,000 lb. Insulators of the 115–138 kV class reach up to 395/366 kV.
The bent steel base connects to the insulator's anchor end fitting with two bolts. It is supplied for round (gain) and flat surfaces with a rise of 0° and 12° (0° only for braced post structures) and allows a certain amount of pivoting. The cast fixed base is attached to a 5″ flange with four bolts and is supplied with a 12° rise.
For conductor and jumper attachment, aluminum clamps LPH3D are offered (ranges 0.90–1.40″, 1.40–2.00″ and 2.00–2.25″) for insulators with a 2-hole tongue and drop tongues of 2½″ and 3″, trunnion clamps ACTS (0.23–2.00″, with spring and stainless hardware as an option) and loop clamps LPJC. The bodies are made of A356-T6 alloy and the fasteners are hot-dip galvanized. The universal 2.5″ trunnion allows one model to be used for different conductors.
