Long Rod long rod porcelain insulators for overhead lines
PPC Long Rod are long rod suspension insulators for high and extra-high voltage AC and DC overhead lines. The mechanical failing load reaches 530 kN and element length is up to 1860 mm. The puncture-proof design rules out the typical mechanical failures of cap-and-pin and polymer insulators.

Description
The insulator is made of C-130 alumina porcelain to IEC 60672. Rod diameter is up to 125 mm, shed diameter up to 265 mm and creepage distance up to 55 mm/kV. End fittings are made to IEC, DIN or ÖNORM and are cemented in with lead-antimony alloy. For polluted areas the insulator can be ordered with an RTV silicone coating.

Questions and answers
What is the mechanical failing load of Long Rod insulators?
The failing load is up to 530 kN with a rod diameter of up to 125 mm.
How does a long rod insulator differ from a cap-and-pin insulator?
The porcelain rod is puncture-proof, so the typical mechanical failures of cap-and-pin and polymer insulators are ruled out.
Can the insulators be used in polluted areas?
Yes, the creepage distance is up to 55 mm/kV, and an RTV silicone coating is available as an option.
