KSTAR LSW-5 (Wi-Fi), plug-in inverter data logger
The KSTAR LSW-5 is a plug-in stick logger with a Wi-Fi channel that is inserted into the communication port of a KSTAR inverter. It collects data on operation and generation and sends it to the cloud platform, by default every 5 minutes. The supply is 5–12 V DC, and the consumption is about 1.5 W.

Description
The LSW-5 from KSTAR is a plug-in (stick) data logger with a Wi-Fi channel. It is inserted directly into the communication port of a KSTAR inverter, collects data on operation and energy generation, and then sends it to the cloud monitoring platform. No additional wiring or complex setup is needed, the principle is plug and play. The logger has a built-in Wi-Fi module operating in the 2.412–2.472 GHz band.
The cloud platform shows current and historical data as clear graphs, and the system status can be checked at any time and from any device. Monitoring runs around the clock (7/24). By default, data is transmitted every 5 minutes, and the interval can be adjusted from 1 to 15 minutes.
The logger supports real-time remote control and firmware updates, so many changes can be made without visiting the site. After a network outage it automatically uploads the accumulated data, and there are no gaps left in the system records. The default baud rate is 9600 bit/s, and 1200–115200 bit/s if needed. The relative humidity during operation is 10–90 % without condensation. The radio frequency part works to the 802.11b and 802.11g standards. The Wi-Fi variant is convenient where the site already has a router, and it does not require laying a separate cable. It is recommended for residential systems, while Ethernet and 4G are chosen when Wi-Fi is unavailable at the site. This removes unnecessary installation costs.
The technical data are as follows. The supply is 5–12 V direct current, the power consumption is about 1.5 W, one inverter can be connected, and a 'heartbeat' LED indicates operation. The same line also includes the LSE-4W (Ethernet + Wi-Fi) and the LS4G-4 (4G). The choice depends on the communication channels available at the site. For residential systems the manufacturer recommends the Wi-Fi variant, while Ethernet and 4G remain optional.
Application: home and commercial solar installations with KSTAR inverters, where an inexpensive and quick way to bring data to the cloud is needed.

Questions and answers
How is the KSTAR LSW-5 connected?
The logger is inserted directly into the communication port of a KSTAR inverter. No additional wiring or complex setup is needed.
How often does the logger transmit data?
By default every 5 minutes, and the interval can be changed in the range from 1 to 15 minutes. After a network outage, the accumulated data is uploaded automatically.
What is the difference between the LSW-5, LSE-4W and LS4G-4?
They are one line of loggers with different communication channels. The LSW-5 works over Wi-Fi, the LSE-4W has Ethernet + Wi-Fi, and the LS4G-4 works through 4G.
