Description
The KSTAR Datalogger collects data on inverter operation and sends it to a cloud monitoring platform. The device belongs to the PLUG5 line of stick loggers. It includes versions for Wi-Fi, for wired Ethernet (FE) and for the 4G cellular network, so the communication channel is chosen for the specific site, rather than fitting the site to the device. According to the datasheet, the PLUG5 line includes three models: WIFI-PLUG5, WIFI-PLUG5E and 4G-PLUG5. The device is fully integrated into the KSTAR cloud platform, and the data is available for analysis in real time. The choice of model depends on which communication channel is available at the site.
Installation is designed to take a minimum of operations. The enclosure is fixed with a quick-release rotary lock, and the connection is made through a quick-release aviation connector. Initial setup is done over Bluetooth from the mobile app. The IP65 protection rating means protection against dust and water jets, so the installation location is not limited to a clean switchroom.
Two watchdog timers, hardware and software, monitor the state of the device. If the logger hangs, it recovers by itself and returns to communication. For remote sites, this removes the need to travel just to reboot it.
Data is synchronized with the cloud every 5 minutes. Firmware is updated remotely (OTA), and monitoring is available 24/7. The platform shows current data in real time and analytics, so the operator sees the equipment status without visiting the site, and the service team quickly notices deviations. Maintenance comes down to remote management, and the number of site visits is reduced. Commissioning is also short, since it is enough to connect the connector, set up the device over Bluetooth and check that data appears in the cloud.
The KSTAR Datalogger is used at solar plants, in energy storage systems and at remote sites where the inverter needs to be kept under round-the-clock supervision. Where a router is available, Wi-Fi or Ethernet is suitable, and at a site without wired internet, 4G works. The list of communication channels, the setup method, the protection rating and the synchronization interval are given in the specifications table on this page. Settings are available from the mobile app, and data from the KSTAR cloud platform.
