Description
KSTAR EMS01D works as an industrial management gateway for energy storage systems. It unites up to 20 lower first-level EMS units into one network and passes their data to the upper level, to a cloud platform or to a dispatching system. The box is designed for commercial, industrial and large storage installations, where several systems must be subordinated to one controller.
The KSTAR box enclosure has an ingress protection rating of IP65 and is designed for outdoor installation, with an operating temperature from −30 to +55 °C. It is mounted on a wall, on a bracket or on the floor. The enclosure carries indicators for power, operation, fault and Ethernet connection status. The lower temperature limit of −30 °C and the IP65 rating make it possible to place the box next to storage containers on an open site. Dual power input keeps the box in communication if one of the two sources is lost.
The box communicates with the lower level over electrical Ethernet (10/100 Mbit/s with auto-negotiation) over a distance of up to 100 m. With the upper level, Ethernet works by default, copper or fibre. Wireless WLAN and 4G mobile communication are additionally possible. Local access is through a built-in web page, and remote monitoring is over Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 4G, and there is also an app. The local web page is convenient during commissioning, when there is no cloud connection yet.
The interface set includes 7 RS-485 ports, one USB 2.0 port, one SD slot, 8 digital inputs (DI) and 4 digital outputs (DO, NO + NC contacts). The power supply is dual, 220 V AC and 24 V DC, and in standby mode the box consumes less than 40 W.
The KSTAR product is built to the requirements of EN 55032, EN IEC 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 55035, ETSI EN 301511, ETSI EN 301489, ETSI EN 300328, ETSI EN 300906, EN 62368-1, EN 50665 and EN 62311. It is used in multi-level storage systems, where data from all EMS units is brought out to a common monitoring platform without separate communication equipment.
