Description
KSTAR CAS7 from the GreenFlow series runs from a single-phase 230 V supply at 32 A and delivers 7 kW. This is the most common power rating among home chargers. The KSTAR station is small, and it is hung on a garage wall in about 5 minutes. The enclosure is made of a composite material that withstands mechanical loads well, resists chemical exposure and has good insulating properties.
The station connects to the car through an IEC 62196 Type 2 connector with a 5 m cable. The enclosure ingress protection rating is IP65, so the unit works in demanding environmental conditions, including open-air sites. Impact resistance is IK08 in the version with a screen and IK10 in the version without a screen.
Installation comes down to fixing it to the wall, bringing in single-phase power and configuring it over Bluetooth. The station shows session data, so the driver sees what is happening with charging, and the operator receives the same data remotely.
Leakage protection is built into the station itself. It is an RCD for 6 mA DC together with 30 mA type A. The station also has protection against overvoltage and undervoltage, short circuit, earth fault, overheating and lightning. For garages and car parks where a separate RCD module is inconvenient to fit, this configuration reduces the work at the distribution board.
Charging is started with an RFID card or from a phone app. The station supports communication over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet and 4G. Bluetooth is used for start-up, setup and updates, while Ethernet and 4G transmit charging and fault data. Remotely, it is possible to start and stop a session, update the software and set the tariff. Scheduled charging, real-time monitoring, data output and power regulation are available. The KSTAR station is built to the requirements of EN IEC 61851-1:2019, IEC 61851-1:2017 and IEC 61851-21-2:2021. The home version suits a private garage, while the commercial version is installed in hotels, restaurants and supermarkets, where session metering and remote control are needed. The final connection scheme and the version type are chosen for the installation site.
