Description

The KSTAR GSM series consists of two parts. The first part includes the central inverters GSM2500D and GSM3125D for open-air installation. The second part includes the complete stations GSM2500D-MV, 3125D-MV, 5000D-MV and 6250D-MV, in which the inverter, transformer and RMU switchgear are assembled together. All of this is intended for large solar plants, where inverters are installed in large blocks.

The central inverter has a maximum PV voltage of 1500 V and a maximum efficiency of 99 %. According to the KSTAR description, the outdoor version shortens construction time and reduces its cost, and the design is oriented towards high efficiency, stable operation and fast installation. A standard 20-foot container is used for the 2500–3125 kW stations and a 40-foot container for the 5000–6250 kW ones. This design is described as turnkey, that is, a ready-made block.

The station transformer is rated 2500, 3125, 5000 or 6250 kVA. The low side is 0.6 kV and the medium side 10–35 kV, so connection to the medium-voltage grid does not require a separate substation for each inverter. The number of blocks is determined by the solar plant design.

Control functions include AGC and AVC for regulating active and reactive power on dispatcher commands, night SVG mode and anti-PID. Surge protection is type I+II on the DC side and type II on the AC side. The inverter station is mounted in a factory-made container, so the foundation, DC cable laying and the medium-voltage grid connection remain on site. This approach reduces the amount of field work. The composition and configuration, including the RMU, the transformer and the number of DC inputs, are specified according to the solar plant design.

Operating conditions: temperature range from −40 to +60 °C, with power derating above 50 °C. Relative humidity is 0–100 %. Altitude above sea level for the central inverters is 4000 m, with power derating above 3000 m; for the stations the standard altitude is 1000 m, and above 1000 m the version is optional. The final choice of configuration is best agreed with a manager.
