Description
For the cement industry, in addition to the JEMAC series, wound-rotor induction motors rated from 1 MW are made. A wound rotor with slip rings allows machines with a large moment of inertia and heavy starting conditions to be started: raw and cement mills, rotary kilns, powerful fans. The starting current is limited by external resistors or liquid starters, and the acceleration is smooth.
The motors are designed within the general induction machine program (voltage 3–15 kV, shaft height 355–1120 mm, horizontal and vertical design) and are built with the same technologies. The stator winding is impregnated under vacuum and pressure, the rotors are balanced on the manufacturer's own benches, and factory tests are carried out on test platforms. Cooling is by air or water coolers or open air. The manufacturer is known for equipment for demanding compressor, fan and pump drives and is a reference supplier of motors for the main circulation pumps of nuclear power plants. The squirrel-cage JEMAC series works at gas compressor stations, in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, in metallurgy, and at thermal and nuclear power plants, and the same design and test scheme applies to the wound-rotor version.
Besides new motors, refurbishment and reconstruction of wound-rotor machines is carried out, including work at a certified facility for machines containing asbestos. In 2022 the Carquefou site was chosen by ArcelorMittal for rotating machine work. The manufacturer covers the whole life cycle of the machines, from design and manufacture to testing, maintenance, rewinding and refurbishment. The program covers both new machines and the repair and reconstruction of motors, including those made by other manufacturers. For cement plants this package is common on mill, kiln and fan drives where smooth acceleration is needed.
The production base is four specialized plants in France (the main site, Champagne-sur-Seine, Carquefou, Étupes) and a plant in India (Vadodara). The main site has a 5.4 m impregnation tank, 55 overhead cranes, four test platforms and four balancing benches.
