VEMoCompact is a series of compact three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors rated up to 2.5 MW for 0.38–13.8 kV. The Compact Exd version in a flameproof enclosure is rated for power up to 2.2 MW and voltage of 6–10 kV. The motors are installed where there is little room for mounting.

Description
VEMoCompact is a series of compact three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors of medium power, rated for both low and high voltage. They are intended for installations with limited mounting space, where high power density and minimal maintenance are required. Driven machines include pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, mining equipment and marine machinery. The source also mentions the marine sector, mining, the chemical, oil and gas industries and transport.
The basic Compact version covers power up to 2.5 MW at voltages from 0.38 to 13.8 kV and speeds up to 3600 rpm. The supply frequency and the number of poles (2–8) are selected for the customer's task. The frame is cast iron or welded steel, cooling by the IC41x scheme (surface ventilation) or IC71W (water jacket), arrangements B3, B35 and V1, rolling or sleeve bearings, degree of protection IP55 (IP66 on request). Ex e and Ex t versions are provided for explosive atmospheres.
The Compact Exd version is designed specially for explosive environments of the chemical industry, oil refining and mining. These are motors in a flameproof enclosure with an increased-safety terminal box (Ex de) rated up to 2.2 MW at 6–10 kV, 50 or 60 Hz, 2–12 poles, with IC41x cooling, a cast-iron frame, frame sizes 355–560 mm, and arrangements B3 and V1. The documentation lists the explosion protection types Ex db, Ex db eb and Ex de for groups IIC and IIB+H2 with temperature classes T3…T6, as well as the certification body IBExU (Germany).
The built-in cooling and robust construction withstand vibration and sharp temperature changes. The motors feature high efficiency, which lowers energy costs during long operation. They are made at plants in Germany and tested to IEC/EN 60034. The VEMoCompact family also includes the low-voltage Compact PM permanent-magnet version (0.69 kV, up to 1.5 MW), which is listed as a separate item for low-voltage equipment.
