TEFC/TETC enclosed high-voltage induction motors 3–11 kV, 160–4500 kW
TEFC and TETC form the base platform of enclosed high-voltage squirrel-cage induction motors for 3–11 kV and 160–4500 kW. The series differ in cooling: the first has a ribbed frame with an external fan, the second a tubular air-to-air cooler. The motors are fitted to pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors, mixers, crushers and winches.

Description
TEFC (Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled) has a ribbed frame and an external fan on the shaft, cooling method IC411. In the IC416 version the fan gets a separate drive, so air flow does not weaken at low speeds under a frequency converter. TETC (Totally Enclosed Tube Cooled) is equipped with a tubular air-to-air cooler according to scheme IC511 or IC516. At the same shaft height the tubular machine removes more heat, which is why higher-power motors are built on it.
The TEFC range covers 160–2240 kW at shaft height H355–560 and speed 500–3600 rpm. TETC covers 185–4500 kW, shaft heights H500–1000 and speeds 300–3600 rpm. The rated voltage of both series is 3000–11 000 V, supplied from a 50 or 60 Hz network or from a VFD. The standard version is intended for installation altitudes up to 1000 m, and on separate order the machine is prepared for altitudes up to 5000 m above sea level.
The rotor is made with a cast aluminium cage or copper bars. Degree of protection is up to IP66, mounting arrangements IMB3, IMB35 and IMV1. The manufacturer points to a lower shaft height at higher rating, increased efficiency, low noise and convenient maintenance. For hazardous areas there is an Ex db flameproof enclosure and Ex tb protection against dust ignition. A copper cage is usually chosen for heavy starts and frequent switching, a cast aluminium one for typical pump and fan drives.
The motors are designed to GB, IEC, NEMA, BS, API and EN. The list of certificates includes IECEx, ATEX, CCC, CSA, UL and also MA, the Chinese mining certification required for coal mines. The series work in the oil, gas and chemical industries, in coal mines, metallurgy, ports and mechanical engineering. In power plants these are auxiliary drives.
For Ukrainian enterprises TEFC and TETC are suitable to replace enclosed self-ventilated high-voltage induction motors of 6–10 kV with ratings up to 4.5 MW, which are numerous in pump, fan and conveyor drives. Before replacement the shaft height, mounting arrangement and cooling method are checked, because the foundation and the space around the machine depend on them.
