TEAAC/TEWAC high-voltage induction motors with air-to-air and air-to-water coolers up to 13.8 kV, up to 40 MW
TEAAC and TEWAC are two series of large high-voltage squirrel-cage induction motors for 3–13.8 kV, with a heat exchanger mounted on a totally enclosed frame. TEAAC with an air-to-air cooler covers 160–20 000 kW, while TEWAC with an air-to-water cooler reaches 40 000 kW. The series are intended for pump, fan and compressor drives, including unit auxiliaries of power plants.

Description
The design is modular. The basis is a totally enclosed motor frame with a heat exchanger mounted on top, and the internal air circuit passes through the active part and the cooler. In TEAAC (Totally Enclosed Air-to-Air Cooled) the heat is removed by external air, with cooling methods IC611, IC616 and IC666. TEWAC (Totally Enclosed Water-to-Air Cooled) has an air-to-water cooler according to schemes IC81W or IC86W. Water removes more heat, so this version is used to build machines of extra-large rating.
The power ranges overlap: TEAAC ends at 20 000 kW, while TEWAC starts from 280 kW. Shaft height is H355–1400, speed 300–3600 rpm, voltage 3000–13 800 V. The motors run from a 50/60 Hz supply or from a frequency converter. The rotor is made with a cast aluminium cage or copper bars. Degree of protection is up to IP66, mounting arrangements IMB3, IMB35 and IMV1. The standard version is designed for altitudes up to 1000 m above sea level, and up to 5000 m on request.
For explosive atmospheres the range includes Ex ec (increased safety type "e"), Ex pxb and Ex pzc with a pressurised enclosure, and Ex tb for dust zones. The manufacturer's page mentions a double-strip seal and a large outer-diameter rotor suitable for zones 1 and 2. The design complies with GB, IEC, NEMA, BS, API and EN, and the motors hold IECEx, ATEX, CCC, CSA and UL certificates.
The manufacturer points to higher efficiency, a lower shaft height at higher rating, reduced noise and convenient maintenance. The motors drive fans, pumps, compressors and other machinery in the oil and gas, chemical and coal industries, metallurgy, ports and mechanical engineering. In power plants the series work in unit auxiliary drives, that is, feed, circulation and network pumps, induced-draught fans and blowers. The modular design is also convenient during repair, because the cooler is removed separately from the active part without dismantling the stator.
By machine class, TEAAC and TEWAC correspond to large 6–10 kV induction motors with a closed ventilation system and built-in coolers, which operate at domestic thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants.
