Description
MEBSSH motors are three-phase wound-rotor induction machines with IC511 tubular cooling. Slip rings are traditionally used for drives that need a high starting torque with a low starting current or a smooth run-up. The typical field is the cement industry and raw material extraction, where equipment works in heavy dust and contamination.
The frame is welded steel, made by manual welding, and has high torsional rigidity. Compared with the more widespread ribbed cast-iron motors, this design is more complex but gives significant advantages in severe conditions, because the motors are especially resistant to vibration and shocks. The cooling tubes are arranged symmetrically around the stator core, and the primary and secondary air is moved by shaft-mounted fans. The direct flow of external air through smooth tubes cleans them by itself, so the system is little prone to clogging, and the machine has a low height and a reduced length. The rounded smooth steel surface protects the motor from falling material, and a separate internal slip-ring chamber simplifies access and maintenance.
Voltage starts from 330 V and reaches 13,800 V. Standard HV voltages are 3–11 kV at 50 Hz and 2.3–13.8 kV at 60 Hz, while low-voltage designs at 60 Hz cover the range from 380 to 690 V. Output is up to 4000 kW, frame sizes 450–900, mounting arrangements B3 and V1, degree of protection IP55, insulation class F with temperature rise to class B.
Each motor is selected mechanically and electrically to the customer's requirements. The manufacturer can make an exact copy of a discontinued motor for 1:1 replacement without rebuilding the foundation and connections. The motors are built for a specific drive, so non-standard requests within IC511 tubular cooling are considered separately. Typical applications: drives of belt conveyors, fans and agitators (for example mixers in tyre production), and mills at power plants and in the mining and cement industries. For replacing enclosed high-voltage wound-rotor motors of the АКЗ, АКСБ series and similar, the series is considered by purpose and main parameters.
