MEBKSW is a modular series of squirrel-cage induction motors with IC81W and IC86W water cooling, rated up to 25 MW and from 380 V to 13.8 kV. Frame sizes 315–900, degree of protection up to IP67. The motors are quieter and more compact than the air-to-air version and suit polluted rooms.

Description
MEBKSW is a modular series of three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors cooled through an air-to-water heat exchanger (IC81W, IC86W). The motors stand out for high output, compactness and very quiet operation, and are intended for severe operating conditions and cramped rooms. In low-voltage design the series starts from 75 kW, and in medium- and high-voltage design it reaches 25 MW.
In the IC81W arrangement the internal air circulates in a closed circuit driven by a shaft-mounted fan and gives up its heat to the cooling water through a mounted heat exchanger. The IC86W arrangement additionally uses an independent fan. The internal circuit is separated from the surroundings by seals according to the degree of protection, so the motors suit sites with polluted air and cases where heat has to be removed from the room. Compared with air-to-air cooling at the same output, the machine is more compact, lighter and quieter, with higher power and torque density. Cooling works even when the motor is stationary, there is no external fan, and the high speed makes it possible to reduce the dimensions.
Main parameters: voltage from 380 V to 13.8 kV (standard HV voltages 3–11 kV at 50 Hz and 2.3–13.8 kV at 60 Hz), output up to 25 MW, frame sizes 315–900, degree of protection IP23, IP55 or IP67. The frame is made of grey cast iron or welded steel. The terminal box is on top and turns through 4 × 90°, with a side position as an option. Mounting arrangements are IM B3 and IM V1, with insulation class F and temperature rise to class B. The motors run from the mains and from a frequency converter. The material of the heat exchanger tubes and water chambers is chosen according to the quality of the cooling water.
The manufacturer's references include compressor motors for 6.6, 10.5, 11 and 13.2 kV in IC81W/86W design for the oil and gas and chemical industries, including with Ex p explosion protection for zone 1. The series belongs to the modular MEBKSL/MEBKSW/MEBKSD range, where the basic design is the same while cooling systems and designs differ. Motors of this range work in the cement, paper, water and steel industries.
