MEBKSD is a series of high-voltage squirrel-cage induction motors in open design IP23, rated up to 25 MW and up to 13.8 kV. Cooling is by IC01 or IC06, with a welded steel frame from frame size 355. They are intended for compressors, blowers and pumps in confined spaces.

Description
MEBKSD is a modular series of high-voltage three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors in open (protected) design with degree of protection IP23. With open ventilation, room air passes directly through the machine, so the motor delivers maximum output with minimum dimensions and weight. The series is intended for installations with limited space, first of all for compressors and blowers of cooling and compressed-air systems, as well as for pumps and other industrial machinery. The motors are used in compressor and blower stations, at water intakes and pumping stations, and in the chemical, oil and gas and cement industries. The design is compact, with small dimensions and weight, and operating and maintenance costs are low.
The motors are cooled by IC01 (shaft-mounted fan) or IC06 (mounted independent fan, recommended for operation from a frequency converter). The high-voltage MEBKSD series is built in a welded steel frame from frame size 355 up to frame size 900, with output up to 25 MW and voltage up to 13.8 kV. Standard voltages are 3–11 kV at 50 Hz and 2.3–13.8 kV at 60 Hz. Special voltages and non-standard voltage tolerances are supplied on request. The low-voltage counterpart in a cast-iron frame, frame sizes 200–355, is designated MEBKGD and is listed as a separate item. The winding is insulation class F with temperature rise to class B.
Mounting arrangements are IM B3 and IM V1, and IM B35 on request. The terminal box is on top and can be turned through 4 × 90°, with a side position as an option. The motors are suitable for supply from the mains and from a frequency converter. The design complies with the European standards EN 60034 and IEC 60034, and every motor undergoes a factory test on the manufacturer's test field.
The modular design of the MEBKSL/MEBKSW/MEBKSD series means a single basic motor design across different cooling systems, degrees of protection and mounting arrangements. This reduces manufacturing cost while retaining a proven design, and allows the machine to be adapted quickly to the application. The most common configurations are finalised by the manufacturer at its own plant, after which every motor is load tested.
