This item combines two series of low-speed high-voltage synchronous motors with brushless excitation. The compressor series for 3–11 kV has a rating of 450–30 000 kW, and the mill series for 6–13.8 kV covers 600–20 000 kW. Both are designed for drives with a large moment of inertia and pulsating load.

Description
The first series is intended for reciprocating compressors in the oil and gas and chemical industries. A double-strip seal reduces leakage to a minimum, and a rotor of large outer diameter gives a large moment of inertia that smooths the torque pulsations of the compressor. The motors are approved for hazardous zones 1 and 2 in Ex ec, Ex pxb and Ex pzc versions. Speed is 150–500 rpm, voltage 3000–11 000 V. A reciprocating compressor loads the shaft unevenly during each revolution, and without sufficient rotor inertia these fluctuations pass into the stator current and into the network.
Cooling of the compressor motors follows schemes IC81W, IC616 or IC611, with degree of protection from IP21 to IP56. The rotor is made of forged 45# steel, the bearings are pedestal sleeve bearings, mounting arrangements IM1001, IMB7315 and IM7115. The machines are made to GB, IEC and EN and certified to CCC, IECEx and ATEX. Standard installation altitude is up to 1000 m, and up to 5000 m above sea level on request.
The second series drives ball mills, rod mills and autogenous mills. Its speed is 125–428 rpm, voltage 6000–13 800 V. Cooling is IC01, IC86W, IC81W or IC666, degree of protection IP21–IP54, mounting IMB3, and the bearings are also pedestal sleeve bearings. The manufacturer writes about a rational electromagnetic design and full conformity of the electrical and mechanical characteristics with the requirements of special loads. The standards GB, IEC and NEMA are declared for this series. A mill starts with a loaded drum, so the motor must withstand a heavy start and long operation at constant torque.
A synchronous machine runs with a leading power factor and therefore partly compensates the reactive load of the plant network. At a factory with dozens of induction drives this noticeably relieves the supply lines and transformers. Brushless excitation removes slip rings and brushes from the machine, so in a dusty mill hall there are fewer components that need regular inspection.
Typical sites are compressor stations, oil refineries, gas processing plants, mining and processing works and cement plants. When old synchronous motors are replaced at such sites, the speed, foundation height and excitation scheme are checked so that the new unit sits on the existing plate without reworking the shaft line.
