KR — high-voltage tube-cooled motors for explosive atmospheres 3–15 kV, 160–13 200 kW
KR is a series of high-voltage three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors with IC511 tube cooling in a steel frame for explosive atmospheres. The Ex ec version for Zone 2 has a power of 160–1700 kW at 3–15 kV. The flameproof version for Zone 1 is rated for 160–13 200 kW at 3–11 kV.

Description
KR is one of the manufacturer's core lines for the oil and gas and chemical industries. The motors are built at a plant in Mönchengladbach (Germany), which has belonged to an international industrial group since 2011. The steel frame has IC511 tube cooling, and the motor itself is intended for explosive atmospheres.
The series comes in two versions. Motors with protection type ec (II 3G Ex ec IIC T1–T4 Gc) for Zone 2 cover shaft heights of 500–1700 mm, power of 160–1700 kW and voltage of 3–15 kV. Motors with flameproof protection (II 2G Ex db IIB or IIC T3/T4 Gb and Ex db eb) for Zone 1 cover shaft heights of 500–1500 mm, power of 160–13 200 kW and voltage of 3–11 kV.
Common parameters: number of poles 2–24, rolling or sleeve bearings, mounting arrangements B3 and V1, degree of protection IP55 or IP65. Insulation class 155 (F) with use at class 130 (B). The supply comes from the mains or a frequency converter. ATEX (IECEx) certification. Mounting arrangement B3 means a horizontal foot-mounted motor, V1 a vertical flange-mounted motor with the flange down. Class 155 (F) with use at class 130 (B) means the insulation is rated for a higher temperature than the motor reaches in operation.
The manufacturer's website gives examples of machines built in the series. KR6940B-DA12 (2350 kW, 6600 V, 497 rpm, Ex db eb ib IIB T3 Gb), KR6835G-PK04 (3100 kW, 11 000 V, 1494 rpm, II 2G Ex pxb de eb ib IIB T3 Gb, with pressurized-enclosure protection), KR6935G-PH04 (4000 kW, 10 000 V, 1494 rpm, Ex pxb db eb ib IIC T3 Gb) and KR6031G-DC04 (1000 kW, 6600 V, Ex db IIB T4 Gb).
The motors are used for compressors, pumps and fans at oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical facilities. The series is considered a replacement for explosion-protected high-voltage motors of the ВАО, АЗМВ and 4АЗМВ series; the final selection by application, power and voltage is agreed with a manager.
