Description
JEMAC is a series of high-voltage squirrel-cage induction motors for industrial drives and power generation. The manufacturer has worldwide recognition for equipment for especially demanding applications, including drives for compressors, fans, pumps and power plant auxiliaries. It is also the reference supplier of motors for the main primary pump sets (GMPP) of nuclear power plants in France and abroad.
Series data: power from 0.5 to 25 MW, shaft height from 355 to 1120 mm, voltage from 3 to 15 kV, number of poles from 2 to 14, horizontal or vertical design. Among the advantages of JEMAC the manufacturer names competitiveness, modularity across the whole range, robust and simple construction, and energy efficiency. Cooling is by air or water coolers or directly by ambient air. Stator windings are impregnated under vacuum and pressure, globally or, for large machines, in sections, which extends the life of the insulation.
The motors are used at gas compressor stations, in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries, at water supply pumping stations, in metallurgy, and at thermal and nuclear power plants. For variable-speed operation the manufacturer supplies its own medium-voltage frequency drives of 3.3–11 kV, so a "motor plus drive" package is possible. For cement plants, wound-rotor motors from 1 MW are also made. The same impregnation and testing technologies are used in motors for nuclear power plants. The horizontal or vertical design allows the machine to be matched to the layout of a pumping or compressor station.
The manufacturer covers the whole life cycle of the machines, from design and manufacture to testing on its own benches, maintenance, rewinding and refurbishment, including motors of other makers. Manufacture and testing take place at the plants in the main site and Champagne-sur-Seine in France, which have 25 overhead cranes of up to 32 t, a 2.5 m impregnation tank, four benches for synchronous and induction machines and two balancing benches. The company is owned by two French industrial groups with shares of 69% and 31%.
