Description
The motors are made by a German plant in Bremen founded in 1915. For more than 60 years it was part of a large electrical engineering group and was responsible for motors and generators up to 60 MW. Each motor is built individually for a specific drive task, both the electrical part and the mechanics. The machine is fitted to existing foundations, and special bearing units are used for additional forces on the shaft.
The range covers ratings of 1000–35,000 kW with a squirrel-cage or wound rotor. For grid supply the motors are built for voltages up to 15 kV and power up to 35 MW at fixed speed. For operation from a frequency converter the voltage is up to 10 kV and power up to 50 MW, with adjustable speed. Starting from the grid is done through a reactor or a starting transformer. All standard designs, degrees of protection and cooling methods are available, including air-to-air and air-to-water coolers, and for machines up to 10 MW also a liquid jacket on the frame. The electrical design takes the local grid parameters into account to limit the voltage dip during starting and to obtain stable acceleration. The design is optimised for efficiency. For aggressive environments, corrosion-resistant materials are selected.
Motors with shaft heights up to 900 mm are built in a patented tubular frame. It reduces magnetic noise and vibration, so no additional noise protection measures are needed. For hazardous areas zones 1 and 2 there are versions with purging under overpressure Ex px and Ex pz, and increased safety Ex e and Ex nA according to ATEX 2014/34/EU, IECEx and IEC/EN 60079.
Example of delivery: 7200 kW induction motors, 323 rpm, weighing 51 t for reciprocating gas compressors at a refinery. Fields of application. Oil and gas, chemicals, metallurgy, mining, power generation, shipbuilding, test benches. The plant holds DIN EN ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certificates and a DEKRA approval according to ATEX (groups I and II, categories M2 and 2G, rotating electrical machines and terminal boxes). The declared characteristics are confirmed on the company's own test field in Bremen.
