High-speed induction (HS) and synchronous (HSMS) motors rated from 500 to 75 000 kW for voltages up to 15 kV and speeds up to 22 500 rpm. They replace gas turbines and gearboxes in drives for compressors, pumps and blowers.

Description
High-speed machines are used in turbomachinery in place of gas turbines and gearboxes. A direct electric drive reduces operating costs, maintenance downtime and CO2 emissions. The manufacturer has more than 40 years of experience in building high-speed motors and more than 20 years of proven operation of motor and drive systems. Separate experience covers machines for direct coupling without a gearbox and electric drives for slurry pumps.
The HS series comprises high-speed induction motors rated 500–15 000 kW (up to 20 000 kW in the brochure) and weighing 4–40 t. The HSMS series covers synchronous motors rated 5000–75 000 kW and weighing 10–160 t. The voltage is up to 15 kV (up to 13.2 kV per the brochure). Maximum speed is 20 000 rpm per the website and up to 22 500 rpm per the brochure. Cooling is IC86W, IC37, IC616, IC06, the degree of protection is IP23, IP24, IP44, and mounting is horizontal or vertical.
By the manufacturer's estimate, compared with a gas turbine drive a high-speed electric drive reduces the total installation cost by about 48 %, the footprint by 35 %, maintenance costs by 85 %, spare parts costs by 60 % and environmental impact by 90 %. Availability is also higher. Together with the manufacturer's frequency converters, such packages serve as a replacement for mechanical prime movers.
A separate line is custom permanent magnet (PM) machine series for OEMs. This is a 1 MW compressor high-speed motor at 14 000 rpm with a slotless stator, a Halbach rotor and active magnetic bearings. The rated power of this machine is 650 kW and the peak is 1 MW. It can be cooled with available water, the rotor is resistant to corrosion and contamination, and its compactness is valued on offshore facilities. Other developments include marine permanent magnet generators of 2 MW, 22 500 rpm (750 Hz) for direct coupling to a gas turbine and output to a 3 kV DC line, as well as a segmented 2 MW wind turbine generator.
Applications are compressors (gas pipeline, LNG, hydrogen), pumps, blowers, test stands, and marine and naval power plants.
