Motors for main circulation pumps (MCP/GMPP) of nuclear power plants
High-voltage induction motors for the main primary pump sets (GMPP) of the primary circuit of nuclear power plants. The manufacturer supplies them to plants in France and abroad. A prototype set of 750 m³/h was made for the Chooz A plant in 1961.

Description
The manufacturer is the reference supplier of motors for the main primary pump sets (Groupes Moto-Pompes Primaires, GMPP) of nuclear power plants in France and abroad. These high-voltage induction motors drive the pumps that circulate the coolant in the primary circuit of the reactor and belong to equipment important for nuclear safety.
The company has taken part in the French nuclear program since 1961, when a prototype main circulation pump set with a capacity of 750 m³/h was made for the Chooz A plant. The company is owned by two French industrial groups with shares of 69% and 31%. The work is carried out within the manufacturer's single quality and nuclear safety management system: separate requirements apply to suppliers of products and services important for nuclear safety (document PQE-202). They cover the reporting of nonconformities, suspect practices and counterfeit products, and the transfer of nonconformity reports.
Besides new motors, the manufacturer services nuclear plant equipment; work is described on extracting and replacing the rotors of main generators at the EDF plants Tricastin, Golfech and Penly. The motors are designed on the basis of JEMAC induction machine technologies (0.5–25 MW, 3–15 kV), with stator windings impregnated under vacuum and pressure and tests on the manufacturer's own benches. Specific ratings and voltages of MCP motors are not given in open sources; they are clarified for each project and customer requirements.
In a GMPP the motor works in a pair with the pump that maintains coolant circulation in the primary circuit, so nuclear safety requirements apply at all stages from design to testing. The level of requirements is set by the designer of the nuclear installation using a graded approach, and the manufacturer passes them on to its component suppliers. Suppliers report defects that may affect plant safety to the manufacturer without delay. The production base is four specialized plants in France (the main site, Champagne-sur-Seine, Carquefou, Étupes) and a plant in India (Vadodara). The main site has a 5.4 m impregnation tank, 55 overhead cranes, four test platforms and four balancing benches.
