Description
Three types of explosion protection are available. The first combines a flameproof enclosure with an increased-safety terminal box, marked II 2G Ex db eb IIC(B) T4 Gb. The second is fully flameproof, II 2G Ex db IIC(B) T4 Gb. The third protects against ignition of combustible dust by its enclosure, II 2D Ex tb IIIC T120 °C Db. The motors are certified to ATEX, IECEx and CCC. Category 2G is intended for gas zones where an explosive mixture may appear in normal operation, and 2D for similar dust zones.
The Ex eb terminal box simplifies cable connection on site, because it does not need to be made with flameproof gaps. Full Ex db is chosen where the terminal compartment must also be flameproof. The designation IIC(B) indicates a version for gas subgroup IIC or IIB, temperature class T4.
Insulation of thermal class 155 (F) operates with temperature rise according to class 130 (B), and insulation 180 (H) with use per 155 (F) is fitted on request. This temperature margin extends the winding life. Degree of protection IP55, IP56, IP65 or IP66. Mounting arrangements include B3, B5, V5, V6, V1, V18, B14 and B35, that is, foot-mounted, flange-mounted and vertical machines. Shaft height in the plant’s range is 63–500. Moving to 3–6.6 kV for powers of 160–700 kW reduces the cable current compared with a low-voltage drive, so the cable cross-section and starting equipment come out smaller.
The manufacturer points to a well-designed cooling system, high energy efficiency under IEC standards and simple maintenance, and positions the motors for severe operating conditions. Fields of application are the oil and gas industry (pumps, compressors and fans at treatment and processing plants), chemicals and petrochemicals, gas transmission, offshore platforms, and coal and mining enterprises with dust zones. Offshore platforms and gas transmission add requirements for resistance to moisture and salt fog, for which degrees of protection IP65 and IP66 are suitable.
The item can replace explosion-proof 6 kV high-voltage motors of the ВАО, 2ВАО and similar types in the range up to 700 kW. During replacement, the shaft height, mounting arrangement, explosion protection marking and temperature class are checked against the zone requirements, as well as the network voltage.
