Three-phase vertical induction motors of the 21-VLL series rated from 650 to 6500 kW for voltages of 3–13.8 kV. Intended primarily for large vertical pumps, with 12–28 poles and VPI insulation. Used at pumping stations for water supply, irrigation, power plants and oil systems.

Description
The 21-VLL series covers three-phase vertical medium-voltage induction motors for high-power applications, primarily for large vertical pumps. Power from 650 to 6500 kW (870–8700 hp) depends on the number of poles. Maximum power is also determined by the cooling method, up to 5000 kW for IC611 (TEAAC) and up to 6500 kW for IC81W (TEWAC) and IC01 (ODP). An example version is a 5050 kW motor, 20 poles, frame 280-E21.
Rated voltages are 3/3.3, 4/4.16, 6/6.6 and 10/11 kV, overall range 3–13.8 kV, optionally 2.3 and 2.4 kV. The number of poles is 12, 14, 16 and so on up to 28, and over 30 on request. Enclosure types are drip-proof ODP/WPI, weather-protected NEMA WPII, and totally enclosed with air-to-air (IP55) and air-to-water coolers. Degrees of protection are IP23, IP24, IP44, IP54 and IP55. The frame is welded from steel plate, the core is made of C5 steel, and both standardized and custom frame sizes are used.
Thrust bearings are selected by axial load. Available are self-cooled angular contact ball bearings, self-cooled spherical roller bearings with air, water or oil cooling, and segmented bearings with air, water or oil cooling. A non-reverse ratchet is fitted on request. The stator with a split core is made with high precision, which reduces iron losses and assembly time. The copper rotor cage is designed for pump loads with increased starting torque.
Modular coolers, water-to-air and air-to-air (IP55) with stainless steel tubes or an open circuit, are made of corrosion-resistant materials, and copper-nickel tubes are possible. Noise level is no more than 80 dB(A) with a standard silencer, vibration up to 1.8 mm/s. VPI insulation protects against impulse overvoltages, and operation from a frequency converter is possible on request. The motors comply with international standards, and typical power diagrams are drawn up by number of poles. They are installed at pumping stations for water supply and irrigation, in circulating pumps of power plants, and in high-power drainage and oil pumps.
