1.PO(F) / 1.PZ(F) / ZP(F)N / 1.PV(F), high-voltage slip-ring induction motor, 3–13.8 kV, 200–9000 kW
High-voltage slip-ring induction motors for a voltage of 3–13.8 kV and a power of 200–9000 kW. The series has four cooling variants, from protected IP23 with IC 01 to enclosed IP54 with IC 611, IC 511 and IC 81W. The motors drive mills, crushers, conveyors and other machines with a large moment of inertia.

Description
The four cooling variants are given in separate tables on the manufacturer's website and are combined here into one item. 1.PO(F) has protected design IP23 with open self-ventilation IC 01, 1.PZ(F) is enclosed IP54 with an air-to-air heat exchanger IC 611, ZP(F)N is enclosed IP54 with tubular air-to-air cooling IC 511, and 1.PV(F) is enclosed IP54 with an air-to-water cooler IC 81W.
The voltage is 3–13.8 kV, including 6 and 10 kV, and the frequency is 50 or 60 Hz. The designs IC 01 and IC 81W have a power from 200 to 9000 kW, and the designs IC 611 and IC 511 have from 200 to 8000 kW. The shaft height is 355–800, the number of poles is from 2 to 12, the insulation is class F, and the mounting is IM B3 or IM V1. The general requirements correspond to IEC 60034-1, and the connection dimensions to IEC 60072.
The slip-ring rotor makes it possible to connect starting resistors, liquid rheostats or cascade control schemes into the rotor circuit. The motor starts with a high torque at a limited current from the network, which is important for powerful machines connected to weak 6–10 kV networks and for machines with a large moment of inertia. The speed can be controlled within limited ranges by changing the resistance in the rotor circuit or by using slip energy recovery schemes.
The main fields of application include ball and rod mills of mining and processing plants and cement works, crushers, drives of bucket-wheel excavators and long belt conveyors, mine hoists, large fans and induced-draft fans, rolling mills and auxiliary machines of metallurgy, and pumps with flow control. The choice between open cooling IC 01 and enclosed designs depends on air contamination, because the brush-contact assembly with open cooling needs a clean environment. When replacing slip-ring motors of older series, in particular on mill drives, check the rotor voltage and current and the design of the brush gear.

Questions and answers
Why choose a slip-ring motor?
Starting resistors or liquid rheostats in the rotor circuit give a high starting torque at a limited current from the network. This is important for powerful machines on weak 6–10 kV networks and for machines with a large moment of inertia.
What cooling variants does the series have?
Protected 1.PO(F) with IP23 and IC 01, and enclosed IP54 variants 1.PZ(F) with IC 611, ZP(F)N with IC 511 and 1.PV(F) with IC 81W.
What power is available for the different designs?
The designs IC 01 and IC 81W have from 200 to 9000 kW, the designs IC 611 and IC 511 from 200 to 8000 kW. Voltage 3–13.8 kV, frequency 50 or 60 Hz.
