Grid power transformers with separate windings up to 500 MVA
Grid power transformers with separate windings rated up to 500 MVA. They are used to interconnect high-voltage networks when the HV and LV neutrals must remain separate. They are built in Nijmegen (Netherlands).

Description
Implemented units include a 300 MVA 420/138/22 kV transformer and a 500 MVA 380/150/50 kV transformer. The windings are fully rated and separate, unlike in an autotransformer, so the HV and LV networks do not share a neutral. Winding clamping is independent. The design is engineered in 3D CAD.

Questions and answers
When is a transformer with separate windings needed instead of an autotransformer?
When the neutrals of the HV and LV networks must remain separate. The windings of such a transformer are fully rated and have no common part.
Which designs have already been implemented?
For example, 300 MVA 420/138/22 kV and 500 MVA 380/150/50 kV.
Where are these transformers built?
At the company's plant in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
