Description
Shell transformers are made with a rating of up to 1500 MVA at 525 kV with an insulation level of BIL 1675 kV. Core transformers are designed for ratings of up to 350 MVA in the same 525 kV class and BIL 1675 kV. The Shell design is modular and allows a single-phase, separate configuration. This makes the transformer easier to deliver to a site with difficult transport.
