XMORE XMR-D — generator and motor protection with differential protection
XMR-D is a terminal of the XMORE platform for protection of motors and generators, including differential protection. The hardware and software are modular, so the terminal scales to the task. It is used at small and medium power plants and for large pump and compressor motors.

Description
The main protection of XMR-D is differential, with restraint and a dual-slope characteristic. It is applied to a generator, motor or transformer (87G, 87M, 87T). Like other XMORE devices, the terminal is modular in hardware and software, so the configuration is selected for the specific installation.
A set of machine functions is added to the differential protection: loss of excitation (40), out-of-step (78), inadvertent energization of a stationary machine (50/27), overcurrent protection with voltage control or restraint (51V), active and reactive power direction protections, including reverse power and underpower (32P, 32Q, 37P, 37Q), low-impedance restricted earth fault protection (64REF), start count limiting (66), a motor/generator thermal model (49MG), supervision of the negative-to-positive sequence current ratio (I2/I1), directional earth fault protection (67N), rate-of-change-of-frequency protection (81R), phase sequence supervision (47) and synchronism check (25).
The terminal also provides overcurrent protection, frequency and zero-sequence voltage protections, trip circuit supervision and other functions. Thermal protection via Pt100 sensors and an arc flash protection function are available as options. There are up to 12 analog inputs, power and energy metering is performed with an accuracy class of up to 0.5. Fault recording runs at 32 samples per cycle, and measurement for protections at 64 samples per cycle.
For accurate recording of the sequence of events (SOE), time synchronization via PTP (IEC 1588) and SNTP is supported. Communication security is supported by the HSR, PRP and RSTP redundancy protocols and a built-in cybersecurity package. The devices work with IEC 61850 Ed.1/Ed.2, IEC 60870-5-103, Modbus (serial and TCP) and DNP3 (serial and TCP); a DNV certificate confirms compliance of the IEC 61850 Ed.2 server for XMR-P, XMR-A, XMR-D, XMR-T and XMR-V. The terminal is installed on synchronous generators of small and medium power plants (hydro, CHP, gas engine and diesel units) and on generator-transformer units of industrial facilities.
