Description

XMORE is a complete line of IEDs for medium voltage, covering protection of feeders, motors, generators, transformers and capacitor banks. The hardware and software are modular, so both terminals scale in functions and performance. XMR-A works in distribution networks with any neutral earthing mode: isolated, earthed through a high- or low-resistance resistor, through an arc suppression reactor (compensated) or solidly earthed. It protects radial lines and transformers and also serves as a system of general protection (SPG) of active and passive consumers connected to the distribution network, certified to the Italian standard CEI 0-16. Directional earth fault protection 67N is added by an optional hardware pack.

The measuring circuits of XMR-A are as follows: three phase currents with a rated value of 1 or 5 A selected in software, and a zero-sequence current input of 1/5 A. A second Io input or a zero-sequence voltage input with a programmable rating of 50–130 V can optionally be added. XMR-P is an extended terminal for the same networks. It protects radial lines and transformers, performs SPG functions per CEI 0-16 with inputs from inductive CT/VT or from ThySensor sensors, and disconnects own generators from the distribution network upon loss of supply (Loss of Main). The version with ThySensor inputs is certified as an SPG with built-in interface protection SPI.

With an optional software pack the field of application extends to ring and long radial lines, generators and transformers operating in parallel (directional protections 67 and 67N), directional active and reactive power supervision, and multifunction protection of motors and generators. The functions include minimum impedance (21), overexcitation (24), directional power protections (32P, 32Q, 37P, 37Q), loss of excitation (40), negative sequence and machine thermal model (46MG, 49MG), locked rotor (51LR), start count limiting (66), rotor earth fault (64F), arc flash protection, rate of change of frequency (81R) and vector shift. XMR-P has up to 8 analog inputs, including inputs for non-conventional CT/VT, and power and energy metering with an accuracy class of up to 0.5.

Fault recording runs at 32 samples per cycle, and measurement for protections at 64 samples per cycle. For accurate recording of the sequence of events (SOE), time synchronization via PTP (IEC 1588) and SNTP is supported. Redundancy is provided by HSR, PRP and RSTP, and a built-in cybersecurity package is included. IEC 61850 Ed.1/Ed.2, IEC 60870-5-103, Modbus (serial and TCP) and DNP3 (serial and TCP) are supported; a DNV certificate confirms compliance of the IEC 61850 Ed.2 server for XMR-P, XMR-A, XMR-D, XMR-T and XMR-V. The terminals are installed in switchgear cubicles of distribution networks, at incomers of MV consumers, at industrial enterprises, and at renewable energy and oil and gas facilities.
