XA10, XA30, XA60 — next-generation feeder and transformer protection relays
The XA10, XA30 and XA60 relays protect lines, power transformers and rotating machines in medium-voltage networks. They extend the functions of the NA series, with a new interface and expanded communications. XA10 operates in radial MV networks, XA30 is designed for industrial installations and distribution networks, and XA60 is also used in complex looped MV and LV networks.

Description
XA10 is intended for radial MV networks. In solidly earthed neutral networks it protects lines of any length against earth faults, while in networks with an isolated neutral or a neutral earthed through a reactor and/or resistor it protects only short lines, to exclude false operation caused by capacitive current during external faults. In addition to phase overcurrent protection and zero-sequence current protection, XA10 provides undercurrent protection, negative-sequence current protection, supervision of the negative-to-positive sequence current ratio, a thermal model of lines and transformers, a thermal model of motors and generators, low-impedance restricted earth fault protection, locked rotor detection and motor start count limiting, trip circuit supervision, breaker failure protection and auto-reclosing with selectable cycles. Digital inputs and output relays are expanded with external modules. Communication runs over Modbus RTU/TCP, IEC 60870-5-103, DNP3 and IEC 61850.
XA30 is designed for industrial installations and distribution networks. It is installed on long radial lines in networks with an isolated neutral or a neutral earthed through a reactor and/or high-resistance resistor, on the LV side of transformers operating in parallel under any neutral earthing mode, and for earth fault protection of generators or generator-transformer units operating on common busbars. The relay provides overcurrent functions and directional earth fault protection for general protection of MV consumers.
XA60 is used in radial and complex looped MV and LV networks to protect lines and transformers in radial, ring and parallel schemes of any length under any neutral earthing mode, and for earth fault protection of generators connected in parallel to common busbars. The relay offers thermal protection of lines and transformers, undervoltage, overvoltage and zero-sequence voltage protection, phase and zero-sequence overcurrent protection, directional phase overcurrent protection and directional earth fault protection, and breaker failure protection. The inputs are available for conventional CT/VT or for integrated ThySensor sensors, and both versions are certified as general protection of consumers per CEI 0-16.
XA30 and XA60 share the same graphic LCD with a single-line diagram, 6 digital inputs, high-accuracy measurements with recording of events (SER), faults (SFR) and waveforms (DFR), modular expandable hardware, a front USB port, Ethernet with Modbus TCP/IP and IEC 61850, programmable logic per IEC 61131, ThyVisor software, an optional web server, a built-in data logger and a Modbus master function for four devices via RS485.

Questions and answers
Which networks is XA10 intended for?
Radial MV networks. In solidly earthed neutral networks it protects lines of any length against earth faults, and in networks with an isolated neutral or a neutral through a reactor or resistor only short lines.
Which communication protocols do XA30 and XA60 support?
USB, Ethernet with Modbus TCP/IP and IEC 61850, Modbus RTU, IEC 60870-5-103 and DNP3. A Modbus master function for four devices is available via RS485.
Is XA60 certified as general protection of consumers?
Yes, both input versions, for conventional CT/VT and for ThySensor sensors, are certified per CEI 0-16 as general protection of consumers connected to the MV network.
