Description
VECOS acts as the integrating link between all hardware components in the manufacturer's deliveries, including switchgear, excitation systems, turbine governors, protection and auxiliary systems. The control systems are built on many years of process automation experience and in line with the standards of different countries. The system is certified for both the UL market and the IEC market, so the same approach suits projects with different regulatory requirements.
VECOS cabinets are independent of component brands. They are equipped with the hardware that fits best by quality and cost criteria, rather than with a set from a single catalog. Cabinet assembly and factory acceptance tests are carried out at the plant in Vaasa, and the system arrives at the site already verified. The manufacturer regards its own production as part of the approach to customer-specific solutions.
The systems are used at thermal and cogeneration plants, hydropower plants, in diesel and hybrid power installations and in industry. In the manufacturer's list of sectors VECOS is also given for data centers, energy storage, process industry, marine facilities, national and regional grids, and wind and solar generation. In one project the manufacturer's automation team developed and integrated a complex control system for a CHP plant in Bremen (Germany). The plant gained the flexibility to respond quickly to load changes as the share of variable renewable generation grows. VECOS control panels were also supplied to the Neste refinery in Porvoo together with VEDA low-voltage switchgear and VEBA busbar trunking.
The manufacturer can take on full EPC responsibility for an electrification and automation project, regardless of sector, scale and complexity. This applies both to new construction and to modernization and expansion of plants. Alongside the control system, substations, E-House, switchgear and busbar trunking come in the same delivery. Lifecycle support, technical support, training and spare parts management are also available.
The automation is designed on the principle of cybersecurity by design and Defence in Depth, applying the IEC 62443 standards. The manufacturer is certified to ISO/IEC 27001.
