Description
The device consists of a processor module and the I/O modules required by the project, linked by an internal bus and a power supply module. It is mounted on a DIN rail, and the process is connected through removable screw terminals with a 5.08 mm pitch. The configuration includes up to 16 digital inputs for 24/48-60/110/220 V DC, up to 8 analog inputs 0…±20 mA or 0…±10 V, and single and double commands. Power supply is 24–60 V DC or 110–250 V DC and 110–230 V AC 50/60 Hz.
The standard communication protocols are IEC 60870-5-104 (Ethernet) and IEC 60870-5-101; other protocols of the SPRECON system family, for example Modbus, are available as an option. The technical document also lists IEC 61850 among the protocols. Two Ethernet interfaces separate the networks and act as a gateway, and network communication runs through a VPN. A GPRS modem is installed as an option. Time is synchronized from DCF77, GPS or NTP.
The built-in web server shows process and system information. The parameter set is stored on a removable medium, which is used for backup and restoration of the device and simplifies module replacement on site. Logic is programmed with a function plan according to IEC 61131-3 (optional); AWL, FUP and Boolean logic are also available. An operator panel is installed as an option, and the front panel has 25 freely parameterizable LEDs.
The modules comply with EN 55022, IEC 60255, IEC 60870-2-1, IEC 61000-4 and IEC 61000-6-5 and carry the CE mark. An extended temperature range from −25 to +70 °C is supplied on request. For SPRECON-E-T3 the manufacturer publishes mean time between failures (MTBF) data as evidence of the high availability of the telecontrol system.
Fields of application cover power supply, HV and MV switchgear, power plant control systems, smart grids, water supply and wastewater, gas and oil supply, heating and cooling supply, and transport engineering such as tunnels. For large sites T3 is complemented by the modular SPRECON-E-C devices, and in compact SPREBOX-DA cabinets the modules automate transformer stations and distributed generation sites. On generation feeders in such cabinets the SPRECON-E-P DS6 protection device is installed next to T3. Typical applications are 10/0.4 kV transformer substations, distribution points, renewable energy sites, pumping stations and municipal utility sites.
