SPRECON-E-P DS..4/DS..6 — overcurrent protection of MV/HV lines, transformers and motors
SPRECON-E-P DS..4/DS..6 is a series of overcurrent protection devices for lines, transformers and motors in any neutral treatment. The devices are built on standardized hardware modules with a single firmware and the same set of protection functions. They are installed in 6–35 kV switchgear of distribution networks and industrial enterprises and as backup protection of 110 kV bays.

Description
The protection functions are designed for selective protection of cable and overhead lines with single-sided and double-sided infeed, transformers and motors. The design is modular and scalable, so compact devices for a specific bay are assembled from the same modules. Typical fields include combined protection and control devices in utility MV networks, bay controllers with backup protection in HV networks and industrial switchgear.
DS..4 are compact relays with many variants of measuring circuits and a small depth. They easily replace old devices, for example RN1, and are advantageous on simple feeders. The version powered from current transformers integrates all power sources, including trip energy stored in a capacitor, and stand-alone backup protection of transformers is built on it. The relays have an event and fault data memory for analysis of faults, and are operated from the built-in keypad and a two-line LCD.
The DS..6-1 series replaced D..2 and considerably extended the set of functions. A light flat detachable panel with a large full-graphic LCD is built into the door, and the narrow 24TE housing saves space in the relay compartment. The device contains all feeder protection functions, full motor protection and a new protected object, the neutral earthing transformer. There are voltage and frequency protections, handling of intermittent earth faults, Q-U< protection, zero sequence current correction, many stages, 4 setting groups, combinational and sequential logic without programming and optional circuit breaker control.
DS..6-0 are compact devices with a detachable panel, whose basic set of functions is extended with expansion packages. Package 1 contains auto-reclosing, signal transmission and handling of intermittent earth faults. Package 2 adds fault location, Q-U<, voltage and frequency protections and the automatic frequency load shedding function AFE. Packages 3 and 4 combine the previous ones, and package 4 is supplemented by synchro-check. The devices also perform decoupling from the network.
Full protection setting is possible on site from the panel without the SPRECON-E COMM-3 program, and the logic and screens are configured in SPRECON-E Designer with the built-in DISPLAY EDITOR. In combined D..6-2 versions the protection and control parts have separate data models, firmware, parameterization and passwords, so updating the control part does not require re-testing of the protection or switching off the bay. Applications are 6–35 kV switchgear of distribution networks and industrial enterprises, backup protection of 110 kV bays, and modernization of existing substations.
