SPREBOX Transformator, SPREBOX-DA — automation cabinets for transformers and distribution networks

SPREBOX Transformator and SPREBOX-DA are factory-built protection and control cabinets on the SPRECON-E platform. The first series automates network and power transformers of substations at 110 kV and below, the second is intended for mass equipping of 10–20/0.4 kV transformer substations and renewable energy sites. The cabinets are delivered factory-tested, with a standard terminal block for the transformer and switching devices.

Description

SPREBOX Transformator combines automation, protection and monitoring of a network or power transformer in one cabinet. A transformer is required to have maximum availability, and in operation economy, stability and environmental friendliness matter more and more. The cabinet regulates and monitors the network voltage and/or reactive power, takes into account decentralized information (in smart grids these are distributed sources and line compensation) and additional local data. The control logic includes regulation depending on the direction of active power, dynamic adaptation of the regulation band to the load and counting of tap changes over a period.

A separate group of functions monitors network stability and detects a sustained voltage drop or rise in reactive power. Transformer protection has main and backup functions, alongside which work transformer monitoring and the collection and processing of additional operating and fault signals. Communication with station and control center systems is standardized, and remote service is performed with IT security taken into account. The design is modular and integrated, and the interface to the transformer, measuring transformers and switching devices is brought out to the standard terminal block of the cabinet. The package is adapted to the customer's requirements, which shortens implementation and commissioning times.

SPREBOX-DA is a series of compact control cabinets for mass deployment in distribution networks. The concept follows the plug & play principle, installation is simple, and updates are performed remotely through a web browser. The enclosure is metal or plastic. The cabinets control and protect transformer substations and renewable sources (control of power feed-in), and perform remote control for electricity, water and gas supply and for transport. In a transformer substation the cabinet is usually equipped with compact SPRECON-E-T3 modules, and on generation feeders the SPRECON-E-P DS6 protection and control device is used.

Communication runs over LAN or mobile 3G/4G/LTE networks, and optional operation with two SIM cards prevents communication outages. Configuration and diagnostics are password protected. An intelligent UPS with VdS certification is installed as standard. It powers all components and the circuit breaker drives after a mains failure, manages the battery and monitors temperature.

Cabinet documentation is prepared in EPLAN, ELCAD, RUPLAN or AutoCAD, and test reports according to standards and declarations of conformity are supplied with the delivery. For a secure connection to the control center the manufacturer offers a Security Gateway. Typical sites for both series are transformers of substations at 110 kV and below, 10–20/0.4 kV transformer substations and renewable energy sites.
