SO-52v11-eMSZR — ATS controller (SZR/SPP/PPZ) for MV and LV switching stations
SO-52v11-eMSZR is a specialised version of the SO-52v11 controller for automatic transfer switching in MV and LV switchgear. It performs ATS (SZR), automatic return switching (SPP) and planned supply switching (PPZ) in switchgear fed from two sources. It is used for auxiliary supply of power plants and at industrial substations with 6–20 kV and 0.4 kV switchgear.
- Functions
- ATS (SZR), automatic return switching (SPP), planned supply switching (PPZ); online synchronism monitoring for uninterrupted switching

Description
The controller changes operating modes of ATS automation or controls individual breaker bays, in which case it works as a facility controller. It implements explicit and implicit standby in two-breaker (explicit standby), and three-, four- and five-breaker (implicit standby) schemes. Continuous online monitoring of synchronism parameters makes it possible to switch the switchgear without a supply interruption, and the ATS automation itself protects consumers from loss of supply.
The automatic device measures voltages (in version v3 also current) and calculates the differential voltage and the frequency and phase differences of the voltages of both sources. It predicts the trend of voltage change on the busbars, selects the type of switching for the rate of change, and in the absence of conditions moves on to other permissible switchings. 14 switching cycles are provided for SZR and 10 cycles for PPZ/SPP, depending on conditions and settings. There are three basic versions. Version v1 is simplified, with an external bay readiness signal, v2 is extended, with its own readiness signal, and v3 acts in an accelerated way when a short circuit and a sudden voltage drop are detected.
The typical composition is the MPA-351-61 measurement and control module with 12 voltage inputs and 8 control outputs of 0.25 A/220 V DC, the MWS-207 discrete input module for 32 inputs, the MSS-237 and MSS-237-N output modules (12 outputs of 0.3 A/220 V DC, output No. 6 inverted in the -N version) and MSS-326 (10 outputs of 5 A/220 V DC), the MZA-502 power supply and an operator terminal with LED signalling in a local or remote version, for example KWG-301-41. The number of packages in the cassette depends on the number of signals and operating voltage groups. A multichannel fault recorder archives measurements, discrete signals, control commands and internal logic signals. The controller is connected to SCADA through USB, RS-232 and Ethernet with optics, or RS-485 and RS-232 by wire.
For checking the automation the company offers the SZR/PPZ 2-5W tester. It checks ATS/PPZ cabinets and individual automatic devices in bays of LV and MV switchgear and is also suitable for functional tests before commissioning. The tester consists of two separately located parts. The main SZR/PPZ 2-5W contains transformers, power supplies, protections, relays and a console with switches and checks schemes for two and three breakers. The additional SZR/PPZ 2-5W_E connects to it for schemes for four and five breakers. The tester works autonomously or from an external voltage source, adapts to 24, 48, 110 or 220 V DC and can simulate a phase shift of voltages and unsuccessful breaker control.
