SO-52v11-eMR, SO-52v11-R, SMT-10x — disturbance recorders and high-voltage bushing monitoring
The SO-52v11-eMR and SO-52v11-R disturbance recorders record analog and discrete signals in bays of LV, MV and HV switchgear for analysis of disturbances and faults. The SMT-10x system monitors the condition of high-voltage bushings of transformers and reactors. The equipment is installed at 110–400 kV substations, power plants and industrial main step-down substations.

Description
Recording is needed to detect disturbances, high levels of which lead to emergency modes, while clearing a fault in a power system is expensive and has unpredictable consequences. SO-52v11-eMR records signals in one or two synchronous channels by configurable trigger criteria, and one channel contains 4 voltage inputs and 4 current inputs. Individual recorders are joined into a network and form the hardware level of a distributed station system for fault recording and analysis, and virtual recorders can be assembled from them. The SO-52v11-eMR-1T/2T and SO-52v11-R versions are produced.
The standard set includes the PJC-834-24 central processor, the MPL-416 measurement module with 4 voltage inputs rated 100 V and 4 current inputs, the MWS-501-H discrete input module with hysteresis and the MZA-210 power supply. The modules are connected by two internal buses and are hot-swappable. Discrete inputs recognise states for signalling voltages of 24/48/110/220 V DC with a resolution better than 1 ms, and each module has 16 or 32 inputs. Optionally the recorder detects fast transients 1/50 μs.
Records are stored in a non-volatile buffer of 2 to 32 GB and on an SD card in COMTRADE files, and then passed over Ethernet, RS-485 or GPRS/LTE to a data server. The recorder has up to 4 independent optical or copper Ethernet ports. Dedicated software, for example SYNDIS RV, determines the causes of faults and the fault location. The central processor supports DNP 3.0, Modbus, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, TFTP, FTP, HTTP, Telnet and other protocols by agreement with the company, so the records are also read by analysis systems of other vendors. Time is synchronised with an error of 10 ms from an NTP server or 1 μs from a GPS signal.
The SMT system, that is, SMT-101, SMT-102/103 and SMT-105, monitors high-voltage bushings of network and generator step-up transformers and compensating reactors, simultaneously on the LV and HV sides. It determines the capacitance C1 and the dielectric loss tangent tgδ taking into account the asymmetry of line voltages, tracks sudden changes and the long-term trend, and counts overvoltages. SMT-102/103 records signals at 2 500 000 samples per second, and recording of a waveform is triggered at a voltage rate of change up to 2000 kV/μs. On the basis of a knowledge base, alarms with explanations and hints are generated for operating and dispatch personnel.
Typical facilities: 110–400 kV substations, power plants, industrial main step-down substations, diagnostics of transformer bushings.

Questions and answers
How many analog inputs does the SO-52v11-eMR recorder have?
One channel contains 4 voltage inputs rated 100 V and 4 current inputs, and the recorder works in one or two synchronous channels. Discrete inputs are assembled from modules of 16 or 32 inputs.
In what format are fault records stored?
Records are stored in COMTRADE files in a buffer of 2 to 32 GB or on an SD card. Transfer to the server runs over Ethernet, RS-485 or GPRS/LTE.
What bushing parameters does SMT-10x monitor?
The system determines the capacitance C1 and tgδ of bushing insulation taking into account voltage asymmetry and records overvoltages. SMT-102/103 samples signals at 2 500 000 samples per second.
