Description
Smartline S16 is a series of compact digital relays for protection of feeders, motors and various backup protections in distribution and industrial networks. Unlike the modular S24 and PROTECTA, the S16 relays have a fixed hardware set and standard configurations, so they are ready for use immediately and simple to operate.
The series includes five versions. S16/F provides primary or backup overcurrent protection of feeders and incomers in utility networks and industrial installations, with 4 current inputs. S16/DT additionally has a voltage input, which allows directional earth fault protection and residual overvoltage protection. S16/M is intended for small and medium induction motors in industrial installations (phase and earth current inputs). S16/MDT protects motors with directional earth fault protection. S16/U is a voltage protection relay.
Common features: a compact 16TE case and universal supply of 19.2–300 V DC or 80–255 V AC. The rated secondary current of the phase channels is 1 or 5 A, the fourth channel is 0.2, 1 or 5 A, selected by software. The event recorder holds 1000 records, there are fast supervised trip contacts and a watchdog timer, and the rated voltage of the binary inputs is set by software. Mounting is flush, semi-flush or on a DIN rail. When ordering, the standard version, power supply, voltage of the binary inputs and trip outputs, communication port and synchronisation are selected.
The operator works with a monochrome backlit LCD of 128×64 pixels, four buttons, eight programmable three-colour signalling LEDs and a three-colour status indicator. The front panel has a USB 2.0 port for setting the pickup values, time delays, signalling and trip matrix with the S16 Tool program, which can be downloaded free of charge from the manufacturer's website. The rear serial port is used for connection to SCADA via IEC 60870-5-101 and IEC 60870-5-103. Applications: 6–20 kV switchgear cells of distribution networks, industrial and commercial facilities, motors of pumps, fans and compressors, and backup protections of feeders.
