Smart view — relay setting and analysis software

Smart view is a free program for setting and analysing all the manufacturer's protection relays from a Windows PC. It works with HighPROTEC, WIC1 g2, HighTECH Line and Professional Line, analyses waveforms and configures SCADA data maps.

Purpose
parameter setting and analysis of all the manufacturer's relays from a Windows PC
Functions
settings with plausibility checks, offline configuration, characteristic plots, statistics, event and waveform analysis, fault simulator, mimic diagram editor
Waveforms
32 samples per cycle, ASCII and COMTRADE import/export
SCADApter
setting of Modbus, Profibus, IEC 60870-5-103/-104

Description

Smart view connects to all protection devices of the manufacturer. For HighPROTEC the program is part of the all-inclusive concept and is supplied together with waveform analysis tools at no extra charge. WIC1 g2 relays are also supported through the DiggiMEC panel, as are HighTECH Line and Professional Line through interface adapters. A relay protection engineer works with the whole relay fleet in one program. A separate licence does not need to be bought, and the PC is connected to the relay over USB or Ethernet. For the WIC1 g2 the cable is plugged into the USB-C port on the DiggiMEC panel, after which the program reads measured values and fault data.

Parameters are set through a guided menu with plausibility checks. The configuration of any relay type can be prepared offline, before going to site, which suits design organisations that prepare settings for several substations. The program shows the operating characteristics and direction detection settings graphically, which simplifies selectivity coordination between neighbouring stages. It reads statistics and measured values, displays the device status, and analyses faults from the event, fault, trend and waveform recorders. A built-in fault simulator is available for testing, and the page editor makes it possible to create custom mimic diagrams and control pages.

The waveform analysis module shows analogue and binary records at a resolution of 32 samples per cycle and immediately evaluates individual measurements. Records are imported and exported in ASCII and COMTRADE formats, so they can be opened in other analysis programs. The SCADApter module configures the data maps of the Modbus, Profibus, IEC 60870-5-103 and IEC 60870-5-104 protocols graphically. This is useful in retrofits, when a new relay has to deliver data points the same way as the old one.

Cybersecurity has a separate menu where security settings are activated, for example unused interfaces are switched off. The TCP/IP connection between Smart view and the relay is encrypted, and a separate password is set for remote access. After repeated entry of a wrong password, access is blocked for a time. The security log sends events to a central server through Syslog. The program and the user manuals are available in the downloads section of the manufacturer's website.
