SIPROTEC 5 7UT87 / 7SS85 / 7UM85 — protection of transformers, busbars and generators
Modular SIPROTEC 7UT87, 7SS85 and 7UM85 relays protect power transformers, busbars and generators of substations and power plants. All three devices are configured in DIGSI 5 and support IEC 61850 and the process bus.

Description
Relays on the SIPROTEC 5 platform protect the primary equipment of substations and power plants. All three devices are configured in DIGSI 5, have flexible I/O expansion and a conformal coating of boards for harsh conditions, support IEC 61850 and the process bus, and are compatible with merging units and third-party devices. Cybersecurity meets NERC CIP and BDEW.
SIPROTEC 7UT87 provides differential protection of multi-winding transformers with up to five sides. The device is intended for complex objects with many measuring points, namely phase-shifting transformers, FACTS transformers, converter, furnace and HVDC transformers, and performs the functions of main and backup protection. Up to three differential protection functions with stabilization by transformer groups and up to five restricted earth-fault differential protection functions can be set. Up to 20 three-phase and 20 single-phase current measuring points and as many voltage points are used. Up to four communication modules, PRP and HSR are supported.
SIPROTEC 7SS85 provides differential protection of medium-, high- and extra-high-voltage busbars with phase-segregated measurement, check zones independent of disconnector positions, and fast tripping. The architecture is centralized, decentralized (with connected units) or hybrid, with data arriving directly and from distributed units. Supported arrangements range from a single busbar to a five-section busbar system, one-and-a-half breaker, double-breaker bays, switchgear with withdrawable trucks, combined busbars, H-schemes and ring busbars. Role-based access, security logs, signed firmware and IEEE 802.1X authentication are built in.
SIPROTEC 7UM85 is a modular protection of generators of any power, which also covers auxiliary supply, the unit transformer and busbars. It is used at hydro plants in generator and motor modes, for synchronous condensers, and at thermal power plants. Auxiliary insulation monitoring devices for the rotor and stator detect earth faults before start-up. A version per EN 60079-14/ATEX for explosive atmospheres and SIL2 certification of the reverse-power protection function are available.
