Description
SEGRITY is a range of products and services for hydropower: hydro turbine governors, control systems for units and stations, digital control algorithms, installation and commissioning. A separate direction is the upgrade of existing hydro turbine governors. The work is built in modules so that the customer can carry out the project in-house, from the smallest digital and mechanical spare parts of an existing governor to a complex system upgrade.
For control systems, direct-replacement hardware modules are made for existing governors, PLC governors and early digital controllers. The modules add new functions and preserve the investment in the existing system. Individual control algorithms are offered: H6B, feedforward control, isochronous load sharing, transient modes and an improved PID controller.
A hydro turbine governor works on the speed and load of the unit, so strict reliability requirements apply to it. Oil flows are large, and standard products often need complex hydraulic and electrical adaptation. For this reason SEGRITY covers hydraulic manifolds, electrical interface modules, repair kits for distribution spools and custom mechanical products. The hydraulic and electrical parts are adapted separately: the manifold to the oil flow, and the interface modules to the signals of the existing governor. The upgrade can be carried out in stages, starting with spare parts.
Panels and cabinets are built for a specific station, so the layout, the number of inputs and outputs, and the algorithms are defined by the project. Hydraulic manifolds and spool kits are needed where the standard governor hydraulics do not match the new control. Complete control panels and cabinets are designed, manufactured and tested to the customer's requirements, including on the basis of algorithms for level control, turbine governor control and the generator cooling water system. As a distributor in North America the division supplies SIL-certified speed control systems to API 670. The supply covers design, manufacturing, testing, installation and commissioning, and the products are intended for hydroelectric plants where unit speed, load sharing and level must be maintained. The manufacturer designs and manufactures excitation regulators, protection systems and controllers at plants in Highland, Illinois and Taylor, Texas, USA.
