RC20 is the flagship controller for OSM reclosers in distribution networks up to 38 kV, with the Relay-20 module combining relay protection, automation and telecontrol RTU. Compared with the RC10, computing power is 10 times higher and sampling is 256 samples per cycle. Hardware cryptographic acceleration is provided for cybersecurity.

Description
The controller comes in three versions. The basic RC20 has the standard set of functions and built-in Wi-Fi. The RC20-4GA and RC20-4GB additionally have GPS, 4G/3G/2G communications and PMU synchrophasor measurements, the first intended for the European region and the second for the American one. The hardware includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports, USB ports, expandable SD card memory, serial interfaces and automotive and military grade connectors. The powder-coated stainless steel enclosure has a degree of protection of IP66 / NEMA4, dimensions of 460 × 950 × 309 mm and a mass of 49 kg.
The cabinet is supplied with 110 / 220 V AC or 110–377 V DC, and the rated system frequency is 50 / 60 Hz. The controller works from −40 to +55 °C at altitudes up to 3000 m.
Protection covers overcurrent and directional protection, earth-fault, negative-sequence and broken-conductor protection, admittance-based protection and detection of high-impedance faults. There are voltage and frequency protection, protection based on rate of change of frequency (ROCOF) and voltage vector shift, synchronism check with an auto-synchroniser, breaker failure protection, fault location and power quality monitoring. The accuracy of the pickup elements is ±1 % or ±1 A for phase current, ±1 % or ±0.1 kV for voltage in the setting range of 0.5–38 kV, and ±0.05 Hz for frequency. The standard auto-reclose sequence is O–0.1 s–CO–1 s–CO–1 s–CO–60 s.
For distributed Smart Grid automation, the controller supports IEC 61850 R-GOOSE and IEC 61499 and exchanges signals over an IP network. On this basis both simple loop automation and interlocked peer-to-peer ATS schemes are built. The telecontrol protocols are IEC 61850 MMS, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, DNP3-SAv5 and the manufacturer's ACO protocol.
The RC20 is used to protect overhead lines and cable networks, including in GMK kiosks, on connections of renewables and generation to the MV network, for collecting synchrophasor data, for protecting mining equipment, in ATS schemes and for controlling substation circuit breakers. The product complies with ANSI/IEEE C37.60 and IEC 62271 parts 111 and 200.
