Description

DVEZ belongs to the PROTECTA range and works as a bay controller and substation computer in automation systems of transmission and distribution networks. It performs complex control functions, records disturbances and keeps an event log. The main purpose is full control of switching devices of any type (circuit breakers, disconnectors, earthing switches), including closing operations, and implementation of other substation application functions. The number and composition of devices depend on the design philosophy of the particular substation.

The factory configuration contains a basic set of functions, extended by options: user-defined control and interlocking functions, event generation, GOOSE message processing. Optional functions include breaker failure protection, synchronism check, auto-reclosing for HV and MV networks, automatic voltage regulation and OLTC control, transmission of binary signals to the remote end, voltage protections, thermal protection and automatic load shedding (UFLS). The manufacturer also offers an RTU module, with documentation for it in French.

Two basic versions are made. DVEZ/E1 is a bay controller with binary input/output modules, and the RTD (resistance thermometer), AIC and ATO (analog input/output) modules are installed only as options. DVEZ/E2 is a special bay controller with analog measurements from current and voltage transformers. DVEZ controllers work in one system with the protection terminals DTIVA, DTVA and DTRV of the same platform. Each device is specialized for a particular application.

The PROTECTA platform is modular. The 84TE or 42TE case is 3U high, configuration is done with the free EuroCAP software, and there is a color touch display with a bay mimic diagram and a web server. The disturbance recorder records up to 32 analog and 64 binary channels, and the log stores more than 10,000 events. Supported protocols are IEC 61850 Edition 2, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 TCP, Modbus TCP, and serial IEC 60870-5-101/103, DNP3, Modbus, SPA, with several protocols running simultaneously. Time is synchronized via NTP and IRIG-B. It is used in digital substations according to IEC 61850, in reconstruction of control systems of 110–330 kV substations, and at distribution and industrial substations.

Questions and answers

Which DVEZ versions are made?

Two basic versions. DVEZ/E1 has binary input/output modules, with RTD, AIC and ATO added as options. DVEZ/E2 has analog measurements from current and voltage transformers.

Which protocols does DVEZ support?

IEC 61850 Edition 2, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 TCP and Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and IEC 60870-5-101/103, DNP3, Modbus and SPA over serial ports. Time is synchronized via NTP and IRIG-B.

How many channels does the disturbance recorder record and how many events does the log store?

The recorder records up to 32 analog and 64 binary channels, and the log stores more than 10,000 events.
