Description

The DTIVA family of the PROTECTA range consists of microprocessor-based relay protection, automation and control terminals (IED) for elements of medium voltage distribution and industrial networks, radial, ring and complex-meshed. The main field of application is networks operating not with a solidly grounded neutral but with an isolated neutral, a neutral grounded through a resistor or an arc suppression reactor (Petersen coil). Single-phase earth faults there produce comparatively small currents. The control and measurement functions allow the terminal to be used also as a bay controller.

The hardware platform is modular, the modules are assembled for the customer's task, and the set of functions is defined by software function blocks. The factory configuration is refined with the free EuroCAP software. The terminal has a color touch screen and a built-in web server. The display shows a bay mimic diagram with the position of the switching devices. Several setting groups and extended circuit breaker monitoring are provided. The built-in disturbance recorder records up to 32 analog and 64 binary signals, and the log stores more than 10,000 events in non-volatile memory.

The family includes versions for specific bays. DTIVA/F and DTIVA/Fr protect feeders: overcurrent and directional earth fault protection, voltage and frequency protections, auto-reclosing with synchronism check. DTIVA/D provides directional earth fault protection, including sensitive protection for intermittent faults. DTIVA/Di and DTIVA/LDi provide longitudinal differential protection of cables and lines over optical fiber, and LDi additionally has distance protection. DTIVA/U and DTIVA/P implement voltage, frequency and active/reactive power direction protections, in particular against islanding of wind and solar plants.

DTIVA/M and DTIVA/MD protect medium and large motors (thermal model of the stator and rotor, start monitoring, stalled start, differential protection in MD). DTIVA/C is designed for shunt capacitor banks with unbalance protection for star, double star, delta and H connections. Communication is via IEC 61850 Ed. 2 (GOOSE), IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 TCP, Modbus TCP over Ethernet and IEC 60870-5-101/103, DNP3, Modbus, SPA over serial ports, with several protocols running simultaneously. Mounting options are rack, flush, semi-flush and wall mounting, with an IP54 cover.
