Description
The system collects and processes in real time the data of bay level devices. It performs sequential operations with breakers, motorised disconnectors, transformer OLTCs and groups of compensating devices with synchro-check and interlocking. Communication with control centres goes via IEC 60870-5-103/104 and DNP3.0 independently of the local HMI. GPS signals synchronise all devices via the network, PPS/PPM and IRIG-B. Third-party devices are connected via protocol converters.
The protection information subsystem collects data on protection operations, oscillograms and emergency automation data and has fault analysis tools. Programmable logic per IEC 61131 implements interlocking and automation of individual devices, groups and the whole substation. The HMI package maintains a database, automatically regulates voltage and reactive power, processes alarms according to configured rules, logs events, helps analyse faults, builds mimic diagrams, trends and reports, performs energy metering and self-diagnostics. Extended functions include topology analysis, access rights management, web access, the NMS network management system and support for IEC 61850 edition 2.
The PCS-9700 HMI software runs on Windows and UNIX, and the manufacturer's documentation also mentions Linux. Data is stored in an SQL Server or Oracle DBMS, and the information model is object-oriented and allows the equipment configuration to be changed on the fly. The architecture is distributed, applications and databases can be placed on any node without reworking the programs, and redundant nodes switch over without failures.
The PCS-9705 bay controller controls and monitors breakers, disconnectors and earthing switches and supports control of the OLTC of a transformer and shunt reactor. It is built on a 32-bit processor and a DSP with a multitasking real-time OS, exchanges GOOSE messages on the station bus and works in single-bay, multi-bay and one-and-a-half breaker schemes. The new-generation PCS-9705S serves as a modular control, protection and automation device with hardware configuration according to customer requirements. The station bus is built on 100 Mbit/s Ethernet, the bay level on a duplicated 100 Mbit/s network, and the process bus on a redundant optical network of 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s.
