Description
IKI-35 is a compact overcurrent protection relay powered from current transformers. It is used to protect transformers against overload, short circuits and earth faults together with power circuit breakers or switch-disconnectors, and for overload protection together with load break switches and HRC fuses. The relay complies with IEC 60255-1 and is configured through the menu or by software.
Protection functions. The relay has definite-time overcurrent protection I> (ANSI 51), inverse-time overcurrent protection I> with four IEC characteristics (extremely inverse, long time inverse, normal inverse and very inverse, ANSI 51), two instantaneous stages I>> and I>>> (ANSI 50), external fast tripping, an earth fault stage with definite or inverse characteristic Ie> (ANSI 51N/51G) and an instantaneous stage Ie>> (ANSI 50N/50G). Earth fault protection works with a cable current transformer or by calculation from the phase current transformers. Inrush current blocking eliminates false tripping when the transformer is energised.
Settings. The rated current ranges are 10–250 A or 100–400 A. I>> is 2–32 In or disabled, with a delay of 0–2 s. Overcurrent protection is 1.1–3 In, 0.3–300 s, with a characteristic shift of 0.05–10 s. Ie>> is 0.1–2 In, 0–2 s, and Ie> is 0.1–2 In, 0–5 s. The inherent operating time is 43 ms. Reset occurs after 2, 4 or 8 h, automatically when the current is restored, or manually.
Tripping and communication. The tripping element is selected from three options: a low-power release of 0.02 W·s without external supply, a 24 V / 0.1 W·s release without external supply, or a standard coil with an external PSU capacitor storage unit. There are two configurable remote signalling outputs (NO/NC, logic I>+Ie>, I>, Ie>, trip), a log of 20 events read out through mini-USB, a self-test and an intuitive menu. The IKI-35_24V version is the base version. IKI-35_24V RF is compatible with the IKI-30-LU and IKI-LUM_30_d92 sensors and replaces the IKI-30 relay without replacing the current transformers. IKI-35_24V UL has UL certification. The relay is powered from the CTs, with a lithium battery buffer lasting over 15 years, a 48 × 96 × 80 mm enclosure, IP40/IP54 and −40…+70 °C.

Questions and answers
What protection functions does the IKI-35 have?
Definite-time and inverse-time overcurrent protection I> (ANSI 51), instantaneous stages I>> and I>>> (ANSI 50), and earth fault protection Ie> and Ie>> (ANSI 51N/51G, 50N/50G). The rated current ranges are 10–250 A or 100–400 A.
How do the 24V, 24V RF and 24V UL versions differ?
24V is the base version. 24V RF is compatible with the IKI-30-LU and IKI-LUM_30_d92 sensors and replaces the IKI-30 without replacing the CTs. 24V UL has UL certification.
Which tripping coils can be connected?
A low-power release of 0.02 W·s, a 24 V / 0.1 W·s release without external supply, or a standard coil with a PSU storage unit. The inherent operating time of the relay is 43 ms.
