iControl SCADA — supervisory control software for substations and MV networks

iControl SCADA is supervisory control and data acquisition software for substations, power plants and medium-voltage distribution networks. The same environment runs at a small substation and across an entire MV network. The system is installed in the control centers of distribution network companies, at renewable energy sites and in industrial power systems.

Description

The software performs local and remote control of substations and power plants and builds a human-machine interface for real-time monitoring. Data acquisition does not depend on the communication protocol, the type of connected RTUs or the architecture. The system is deployed standalone, in a client-server layout or in a redundant configuration with remote clients and SQL data storage. The architecture is not tied to the network topology, from a simple standalone station to a complex redundant scheme. The archive can be integrated with third-party databases, and analysis and visualization of the whole distribution network can be run on a single platform.

For distribution networks, the main functions, single-line mimic diagrams, event sequence playback, alarm and event management, SQL models and databases are put together. The software calculates service quality indicators and generates SAIDI and SAIFI reports, that is, the average duration and the average frequency of supply interruptions per customer. Custom reports are generated periodically or on a specific event or alarm, so the dispatcher has a detailed picture of how the network is operating.

iControl SCADA works with several protocols at once, from Modbus to IEC 61850 (MMS and GOOSE), in master and slave modes. As a result, the system can poll RTUs and protection terminals at the substation itself and at the same time pass data to the upper level of supervisory control. Protocols for exchange with control centers are also supported, IEC 60870-5-104/101, DNP3.0 and OPC UA. Through the iControl web viewer, real-time SCADA mimic diagrams open in an ordinary browser, while built-in safeguards block unwanted and dangerous actions. The manufacturer positions the HMI platform for secure, high-performance operation with a simple and clear interface for operation and configuration.

Together with iRTU controllers, iGW/iGWlite gateways, iBU bay controllers and XMORE and PRO-N protection terminals, the software forms a complete protection and automation system from a single supplier. It is used to operate and configure substation automation systems (SAS) and distribution network control centers. Typical sites are network company substations, PV plants and other renewable energy sites, and industrial power systems, where one platform unites several substations and generating facilities.

Questions and answers

Which communication protocols does iControl SCADA support?

Modbus and IEC 61850 (MMS and GOOSE) in master and slave modes, and IEC 60870-5-104/101, DNP3.0 and OPC UA for exchange with control centers. Several protocols run at the same time.

Is a redundant architecture supported?

Yes, the system is built as standalone, client-server or redundant, with remote clients and SQL data storage.

What equipment does iControl SCADA work with?

With iRTU controllers, iGW/iGWlite gateways, iBU bay controllers and XMORE and PRO-N protection terminals. Data acquisition from other RTUs does not depend on their communication protocol.
